Audiophiles Rejoice! Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
If you've been bitten by the SSB Hi-Fi
Audio bug, then you'll certainly want to
add this piece of software to your tools.

Using it you can provide meaningful feedback
for others, including sending them e-mail
screen grabs of their audio spectrum.

You can also use it to tune in weak RTTY
signals, set up Passband Tuning filters, etc.
Very handy, inexpensive and stable. What
else do you want from software!?

A nice accessory at a low price Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This software-based audio spectrum analyzer runs on your PC and uses your sound card as input. It connects to the audio output of your rig. It is a low-priced version of a number of products that are available... and does a very good job for ham radio applications. It disiplays the real time audio spectrum (FFT), the short or long term average spectrum, and the peak spectrum. Each of these can be individually selected, and you can have any combination displayed. It allows you to adjust various parameters that control the range of frequencies displayed (e.g., 0-5 kHz or other ranges up to 0-22 kHz), the resolution (how narrow a range of frequencies you can resolve), and the amplitude range in dB. It is easy to load on your computer and easy to operate. I use it for a variety of purposes... including giving people feedback on their audio, and tuning my receiver so that CW signals are centered in the passband of my rig when I'm using narrow filters. For the money its a nice accessory if you already have a PC in your shack.
