Great, super reliable, never stops Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have had this PS since before my hair went grey - 30 years or more. I modified it by adding a triac to switch it on and off, a toggle switch to control the triac gate, and directed its output to an Anderson Power Pole fused distribution board. I also added an LED to indicate when mains power supply was available to the unit. It has been connected to the mains supply for all of that time. Sometimes it is left switched on for weeks at a time. I love its big hunky power transformer - nice and quiet with no RF noise generation. In short, a really great product.

I bought thiswithan Icom IC-730 a few years ago, but never used it... It sat on a shelf until the pandemic then I decided to add a power switch,Power poles,Bannana plugs and a CIG lighter. Now it is more than great see my Mod video.73' jim KB1PFL

Oldie-But-Goodie! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This unit came along with a pre-owned Icom IC-910H I bought from a fellow about five or six years ago. It's robust, quiet, and ran flawlessly until about two days ago when I turned it on (I installed a manual power switch) and heard a loud buzz and then watched the pilot lamp slowly dim and extinguish. For a power supply that is probably at least 20 years old, if not more, I'd say that's an awesome track record! Since I can't find any obvious visual signs of damage inside, and the transformer puts out a hearty 18+ volts, I'm thinking the bridge rectifier finally failed. I hope so, because for less than five bucks, I could put it back in service quickly and inexpensively. A little more trouble-shooting will tell. If you're lucky enough to have one of these, good for you!

Update: Yes! Blown bridge rectifier was the culprit that shut down this supply. I replaced it with a slightly more robust bridge rectifier module, and it's up and running once again. As manufactured, this unit does not have any meaningful over-voltage protection (Icom...how could you leave THAT out?), so I'm soon installing a "crowbar" circuit to address that.

Bought one used about THIRTY YEARS AGO.

In that time its been neglected, abused, hacked into, left powered on for years, left powered off for years, left sitting in a damp shed for years. I have blown up, short circuited, and overloaded various connected devices. Basically I have treated it like I hated it.

And it has never missed a beat.Big heavy old thing. Its the only 12v I have ever used. Im starting to think I will die before it does.

Be nice if it had an on/off switch or Amp meter built in, but hey, I can live with that.

Got this off e$ay to replace a 25amp switching unit that dimmed out under full power. This beast is rock solid under full load.

I like the looks and mechanical details of the PS-15. Inside it is a simple linear type power supply. The transformer is quite large. The rest of the design is sufficient, not over built IMO.

An Astron RS-20 power supply is similar, but does add an over-voltage crowbar lacking in the IC-PS15. I added an over-voltage crowbar circuit in the IC-PS15.

Due to electrolytic capacitors can fail after 30 years, I replaced all electrolytic capacitors for good measure. I also upgraded the bridge rectifier from a 25 amp to a 70 amp. I expect another 30 years service.

Oh, I let my license expire 12 years ago, retired now and will have a new license in two weeks.

I have an IC-PS1S and am impressed with both the build quality and the performance. I have it currently powering my IC-756 ProIII but originally used it for powering my IC-751A and it's never skipped a beat in over 10 years. No dimming lights under full load, no noise, no attention required, just pure clean, stable power, as it should be.

This thing feels like it weighs about the same as my Astron 35M. It's just a healthy linear supply with the appropriate plug for my Icoms, and some Kenwoods & Yaesus, although it won't power up my FT-890 since the power supply uses a current sensing turn-on circuit and the 890/900 series first engage a polarity protection relay before sending DC to the board.

Other than that, no complaints, it just keeps working, and that's a good thing.

I have one for 2 years. It works well and produces no noise. My 100 Watts IC-730 matches perfectly with it and the power switch of the TX commands the PS15. In conclusion this power supply is of that kind you forget. What else to want ?

got my PS15 in a deal with a 706mk1. after I sold the 706, the supply stood me at MINUS £30!
it runs my IC746 with no major issues, except the rear heatsink getting very hot after a while at 100w FM on 2/6/10m.
easily sorted, a computer fan mounted on the heatsink and run off the internal 13.8v.
I've just got a PS85 to try.
do you think I'm getting rid of the PS15??
NO CHANCE!!
