Nice Mic. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
4/5 is due to only having it about a week. I haven't had much experience in evaluating audio quality and went buy what sounded best to my ears in this review

I was looking for a nice desk microphone to match my Yaesu FT-290r after the original hand mic broke on me some months back. After asking around I had two choices: Heil or find the same mic I had on the rig at first. This just wouldn't do and I wasn't sure if the Heil would match up to my rig right. The Adonis has an FM/SSB switch so I figured it would work well. It did. Audio reports so far have been great and all my friends think it sounds way better than my old mic (an unamplified D104) which sounded very thin but loud and had a hell of a lot more highs than the Adonis does. I have the compressor set on the lowest stage and the gain set low too and it works great for FM rptr work. I can't wait to try it out on SSB and simplex. I had a problem with hum in my old microphone that could have been caused by many things and there is absolutely NONE with the Adonis. I really wish more people would give these things a try. They seem really hard to get now, HRO had to send mine from OR instead of my local VA store. All in all, it's a nice little mic at a decent price with good features. I am still surprised at how it sounds on FM. One thing I would change is the On/Off switch on the thing. It has this switch for turning on and off the preamp/compressor which is annoying since it blinks and if it is turned off you can't engage the PTT. I would have liked for the preamp/compressor to be bypassed when needed but there's nothing I can do about that. Oh well......
