$60 all bander??? Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Mounted as an inverted V the 204 foot double length G5RV. The internal tuner of my Yaesu FT900 is tuning it with no problems from 1.8-30MHz- Was doubtful the internal tuner could load up on top band but no problem. The antenna is mounted at 75 feet on a tower with the ends pulled out 130 feet on each side- The ends are about 20 feet off the ground- Hears as well as my Butternut HF2V vertical- but it's a bit quieter on noise as expected. Great back up emergency antenna which is why I bought it-

Excellent All Putpose Antenna Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Blew $400 on a ground-mounted vertical, only to find the half-size G5RV is 2 S-units better on higher bands (20, 17, 15, 10) and 4 S-units better on 40m. OUCH! So I bought the full version also, and due to space restrictions, just mounted it on top of a fence only 7 feet off the ground. That one is not as good as the vertical on 20, of course, due to the low height, but still outdoes my attic dipole and the vertical on 40m and 75m by a bunch. If you can do a wire antenna, save your money and get the G5RV. Best thing short of a yagi. Full version has gain over a dipole on 20.

Classic design with simple reinforcements Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I had the standard (102') version 80m-10m and sold it...I would later regret it. So, I bought the double (204') version 160m-10m, which is "twice as nice". I use the G5RV-D for receiving only on HF/SW...but I can tell you that this antenna is built ROCK SOLID. I have yanked, pulled & stretched this thing, trying different configurations...and have had NOT ONE BIT OF TROUBLE WITH IT. The antenna comes with a Lifetime (No Questions Asked) Warranty, so I guess with that...and A&M being a one man operation...he doesn't want anything coming back. LOL! This is a VERY well built antenna, and comparitively inexpensive...comes with Quiet-Flex feedline (maybe 30+ feet of it), insulators on each end, terminated with a PL-259 and also includes an SO-239/SO-239 bottle connector. Requires a tuner to transmit, safely. EXCELLENT ANTENNA...YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!!

Good Antenna "No Magic" Time Owned: more than 12 months.
If you're one of those folks who believe that some antennas provide some kind of "magic touch" with some drain pipe attachments on them, go right ahead. I've tried those and come back to the G5RV. Specifically Antennas and More G5RV. The Quietflex wire stays up with NO deterioration for years and years (I have a 14 year old one made by the previous incarnation Antennas West) and still use it as a backup emergency antenna. I've got two of these G5RV's. A short one here at home (no room for much in the neighborhood) and the full sized version in a rural area with lots of trees. Get a good tuner (one with low losses, using LARGE WELL MADE COMPONENTS) and you'll be happy with the performance and the LONGEVITY of these antennas. Last year I put up one of those fancy wire antennas with the drain pipe transformers and line isolators and, it worked fine. One year later, the wires are so corroded that they make electrical noise when rubbing against each other inthe breeze and the drain pipes were filled with water (maybe water is attracted to drain pipes). Down it came, and up went the Antennas & More G5RV - a new one.
They're nice to deal with, quick to respond, and their antennas work. What more do you need? I intend to experiment with a large horizontal loop antenna when we move out to the rural location, and I'm going to be making it of Antennas & More Quietflex. I want it to last.

Well constructed Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I recently installed the 102 foot version in a flat top configuration, at a height of 45'. I followed the instructions and used 70'of coax to the transmatch. The antenna tunes 80 - 10 easily. I haven't tried it on 160 or 6 meters as yet but plan to. What impresses me is the quality of construction. I have owned other Antennas and More products (a couple of half squares) and the antennas have performed well. Compared to my ground mounted R 7000 vertical, the G5RV is very quiet and definitely outperforms the vertical. An excellent investment.

Resonates, reliable, durable, a value Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I'm impressed with the obvious durable construction of this wire antenna. It has black, insulated, kink-resistant stranded wire and sealed connections at the center point as well as the business end of the 30' heavy-duty 300 ohm solid twin-lead matching stub. The stub terminates in a sealed PL-259 with accompanying barrel connector. It was a breeze to hang in my configuration (between inverted "v" and flattop) and tunes effectively on all 80-10m frequencies with my simple vintage MFJ 16010-ST transmatch. In fact, my new Icom 746 Pro with ATU says it tunes effectively from 160m thru 6m. I've yet to prove those two extremes. Son Tom, K8BKM, has recently installed the 204' double-length version and is as pleased as me. The matching stub on his is twice as long at 60'. The construction of this G5RV design is such that it should survive regular raising, lowering, storing, etc. for field and other multiple uses.
