great! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I've had my plus for 2 years, and used many times a year for contests. The phase reversal is really great for relieving fatigue on your ears, after hours of CW streaming into your head. It works great to just change things up a bit. I like being able to switch between the 4 and 5 elements, I really like the 5, but, if in a pileup, the 4 really stands out.

A good pair of headphones Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Vrey nice job with two microphones. In comparison with Pro-Set are much more stronger and feels better. Still the cable is junk so I had to replace it.

I have been using My pro plus for some time now and I joined lot of Contests using it.... it is realy great Head phone and also have a good audio, what I liked about it that it covers the whole ears so you will not feel any pain after the contest.

Extremely Pleased! Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I've been using the Pro-Set Plus for several months with my Yaesu FT-990 and a PTT foot switch. It's my first headset with boom mic and it's grrrrreat! Not only can I now hear and talk with hands free, I can't hear my xyl when SHE talks! HI (Just kidding, dear.)

It's comfortable and effective on the RX side and on TX I've had some good reports about my audio, which surprised me as I have heard mixed reviews about audio quality in Heil headsets. That didn't stop me from buying, however, and I'm glad it didn't. This is a good product.

If I was to find any fault it would be the long straight cord. I appreciate the length but twice I've managed to get caught up in it when leaving the operating position, causing the unit to crash to the floor from the desk. In these circumstances, a coiled cord would have prevented that.

Unfortunately, the last time this happened it apparently did some interior damage to the toggle switch because when wiggled the sound out of one side is intermittent. Alas, I have no intention of trying to take it apart to fix, lest I make it worse. (sigh)

Very effective Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I purchased the Icom "iC" version to switch between a 746PRO and a 706MKIIG, due to the '706 not having the necessary pre-amp to handle the HC-5 element. The "iC" element still works fantastic with the 746PRO (although I have to adjust the gain down to accomodate its' higher output)....getting glowing reports on it and the extra "cutting thru" audio on the HC-4 DX (not pretty, but effective in pile-ups) element. The headset speakers have great range, completely cover the ears, and the phase reversal switch reduces listening fatigue and gives a "spatial" alternative. Microphone boom is solid (in defference to earlier reviews), and the entire unit is a little weighty, but still very comfortable and well built. This headset/mic in conjunction with my Goldline Pro gives me the best of three worlds....full-range studio quality (Goldline PRO), mid-range punch (iC element), and high end DX audio (HC-4 element). No complaints on any Heil product I have purchased. Bob Heil ALWAYS there by phone or e-mail with advice. Highly recommended.

Groovy Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I like it a lot, the cans fit completely over my ears, they don't rest on them, so it blocks out nearly all the amp fan noise in my SO2R contest setup.

The frequency response of the phones is intended for communcations, so all that high-freq hiss I hear in my music-quality phones is gone -- really nice, helps a lot to reduce fatigue.

The mic can be positioned easily and STAYS where you leave it, it's built strongly but is slightly heavy feeling, yet the suspension system spreads out the weight and it never gets tiring.

The replaceable/washable earpiece covers are good.

The switch to modify the receive seems like a gimmick until you've been contesting for a while, then changing it reduces fatigue a LOT. It's great in a big pileup to get some separation of callers, too -- well worthwhile.

So, I'm no SSB expert but these are gonna be the envy of everyone at FD this year.

Excellent for contesting! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I've owned my HEIL ProSet Plus! for almost 2 years and use them for contesting all the time. A great tool no hamshack should be without! Sounds great and the audio has that DX Punch that HEIL is famous for. Very comfortable, not too heavy, not too tight.

Only minus is there is no manual adjustment as to how far down on the head the headphones fit. It has some sort of (I think) internal elastic band that is not manually configurable. Ohter than that it is a great asset in the hamshack.

I use mine with a (The Better RF Co.) I-Mate

Great addition to the shack Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Finally broke down and bought a Heil, after years of using everything else. There is no comparison, Bob's stuff is simply the best I've used. The dual elements and speaker phasing provide some neat ways to get through that pileup!
