Outstanding. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The Pro Set Plus very nicely compliments my Kenwood TS-2000.

Feel and Fit: Very comfortable. I am wearing them as I write this, and they have been on my head now for about 3 hours. If not for the microphone being in view when I glance down, I'd forget they were on my head.

Sound Quality. I have used many headphones over the years for various applications. The sound quality in the Heil P-S-P is among the best I have ever listended to. The Phase reverse is quite effective. I prefer the "B" setting.

Microphone: Without being redundant with the specs and functions that others mentioned already, the elements in the boom mike on this headset are downright fabulous. The DX / Full Range toggle is a nice touch and as well effective.

Quality: This Headset is attractively made and I find the design configuration to be perfect (for my Melon at least). It's very apparent that there was no corner cutting done here. The headset also comes with ear covers [put them on the headset, not your own ears :-)) ] and a Mic "poppy" cover. I employ both.

Summary: If you want a top notch headset/mic combo, I believe you need not look further than the Heil Pro Set Plus. Money well spent.

It's tops Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Saw Bob at the Donnington Amateur Radio Show in the UK in September and learned a load about Audio from this One Man Show.

Purchased the Pro-Set Plus there and then.

It's great. Does all it says. Comfortable for hours of use with excellent reports on audio with both inserts.

My best buy for a long time.

Best yet! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I received my Heil Pro-Set Plus about a week ago and immediately put it through its paces. I used it non-stopped this past weekend on AM, FM and SSB on every band from 440 to 40 Meters. Reports from my contacts were excellent overall (With and without my W2IHY 8 band equalizer).

My first impression: High quality, solid and comfortable! And, it doesn't feel like I've got my head squeezed in a vice like some communications headsets. The new PLUS! features a heavier cordset than my old Pro Set and the frame doesn't creak (and trip the VOX) when I turn my head. I found that I could set the position of the boom mic and take the Pro-Set Plus off, lay it down, then put it back on again and the boom was always right where I had set it.

The receive audio is wonderfully non-fatiguing and uncolored. The transmit audio? What can I say? It's typical Bob Heil audio. (HC-4 and HC-5 both on the same boomset).

I hadn't though much about the ability to switch the spacial imaging from wide to center, but immediately found that it really could help me focus in on weak SSB and CW signals.

In the 40+ years that I've known Bob, I have found very few hams who exhibit his level of enthusiasm for our hobby. That enthusiasm is evident in his entire product line and now shines in the Pro Set Plus! Keep 'em coming, Bob!

Outstanding service Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I just picked up this fine headset last week. The audio characteristics are top notch on RX and have had good TX audio reports so far. As stated in other reviews, the headset is nice and comfy once adjusted.

Had one small complaint about the boom tension. It was a little loose out of the box for my taste. It kept slowly sinking down until it came to rest on my chest. One email to Bob got an immediate answer with instructions for tension adjustment. After adjustment, it stays where I put it now.

As for Heil service.. When I didn't relpy back to Bob right away, I found a follow up message in my box the next day asking if all had gone well. How many companies can you name that will follow up like that?

OUTSTANDING Bob!!!!

these are great for the contester and dx'er Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
have had the Pro-Set-Plus 3 days, they are very comfortable on my ears, much better than the older model Pro-Set I also have...they are only about 13 ounces and feel great..For example the wind screen is a nice feature, and the extra ear covers, which I do not use, but glad to have them.audio is really great with the FT-1000D and the reversal switch really works...I am always looking for that perfect set of headphones with a mike and this is a must for long contest hours and dx'ing..way to go Bob another super product

A great new product! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
For the past two years (and 5000 qso's) I have used a Heil Pro Set HC4 that was on long-term loan. I never tired of the headset, even after many hours in a contest. Having received numerous positive on-air comments about my audio, I simply thought this is as good as it gets with my current setup. With the introduction of the Heil Pro Set Plus, I thought it was time to return the Heil Pro Set HC4 and purchase my own equipment.

While I'm still very new to the Pro Set Plus, I can say it is more comfortable, appears lighter in weight, provides complete coverage of my ears (the HC4 did not) and has nicer sounding audio -- to my ears. After the Pro Set, it took a few hours to adapt to the new suspension system in the Plus. Initially I wasn't sure I liked the idea that I couldn't set the exact detent position of the ear-cups, but after speaking with Bob Heil, I have come to appreciate the unique design in the Plus and have configured the headset frame to fit my head exactly. It literally floats on your head when adjusted properly -- what a treat to wear!

Additional benefits of the Plus include a nifty phase reversal switch that lets you literally see the sound in your mind and of course the incorporation of the HC5 mic element is great for that big ssb audio sound. The product is expensive, but you'll likely have it for a very long while and just remember -- if you can't hear the dx, you can't work it -- so why not give yourself the best audio headset.

Heil does it right!!!!! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I recently visited the Charlotte N.C. hamfest where I met Bob Heil and purchased this great new product after owning the Pro Set HC4 for years and running it with the W2IHY 8 band EQ and noise gate. Although I saw that the older Pro set series did not get very high marks?????, I enjoyed mine even though the ear muff covers did not last very long. To Heil's credit, Bob Heil sent me two pairs at no charge. Now that is customer service..and all you guys want to bash Heil headsets, hi hi.

Well now I own the Pro Set Plus which is so much better than anything else I have seen, heard of, tried, etc etc. short of spending a fortune on a sound rack and high end electret mic.. I am hear to testify and say, Bob Heil and crew did it right this time. Man this thing is built like a tank but floats like a butterfly... on your head that is. The build quality and sound quality of this unit along with the sound centering switch, added wind screen, and cotton ear covers if you don't like that leather feel against your ears, is A++++.

All I can say is, I love it Bob and it is as advertised!!! I got mine autographed to boot and got to meet a legend in the sound industry and a true gentleman who still understands the importance of serving his customers. These things really deserve a 10+++ but sorry Bob, Eham won't let it happen hi hi. Nice meeting you buy the way after all the great Email exchanges.

If any of you crybabys post a bad review on this headset, you show the world you know nothing about sound quality or build quality or that you have more money that you have sense..hi hi LOL. Enough said!!!73, Steve, NX1G

Great ham headset Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I am always on the outlook for the perfect bug and headset, going through more then a few of each. I am now using the GHK dual lever bug and Heil Pro-Set Plus headset. This review is on the headset only (not the mic), since I do CW and not any voice modes. The headset looks big, but it is light and very comfortable on the head. The ear pad completely surrounds my ear and blocks out background noice pretty good. The ear speaker reversal switch does a good job in putting the CW signals in the center of your head. Being made for ham, and not stereo use, it cuts out the higher frequency hiss.
