hi value rig Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Ridiculously cheap mil spec 55 watt rig replaced by a 706. Bullet proof compact radio fits perfectly in Toyota Tundra console pocket like it was made for same. Icom's gift to first time buyers of ham gear.

Just OK. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Worked great the first six months. Started out with a popping noise. Sent it back to Icom for repairs. Six months later the rig just stops transmitting. Pull out of my automobile and put in a junk box. The other day I had nothing to do so I got it out. The mic. had a cold solider joint on the surface mount micro-switch. For a little over a year now I had been cussing the rig, but it is working pretty well now.
God Bless America!

Great Radio, Great Value Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I have a new IC-2100H. For the price and performance (<$170.00), the radio is a real buy! It acts like a commercial rig, I use similar ones at work, but is simple to use. With the addition of the optional software and cable from Icom, you can program the rig with all your favorite frequencies, offsets, pl's, etc. Our ARES group uses these. Aside from personal use, we have one used as a digipeater in a remote location and it works excellent. BTW, the manual is a LOT easier to understand than some of the other manufacturers!

power switch Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I bought radio new on 8-27-01. switch stoped working and stays on all the time. this happened on 9-28-01. called icom and they want me to pay shipping both ways and wait for repairs on a radio 1 month old. due to age i think they should cover that, i have already paid for that once. other than that the radio seems to perform well so far.

Great Radio Great Price Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Icom-2100h the tx and rx are perfect, easy to program and easy to use funtions. Makes a great base unit with the 55 watt capability when you don't live near a repeater. I plan on buying two more for my vehicles.

Not my cup of tea! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
My friend's 2100H has an audible whine in both TX and RX. It is coming from the alternator in his new Ford F-150. We tried my Yaesu FT-1500 and the noise was NOT there. Same truck, same harness connected directly to the battery, and same antenna. We put a noise filter in line and it improved just a little. I love Icom but not this one.

Great Radio! Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
This radio is a winner with me. This was my upgrade from a radio shack HTX-242. This radio is great for mobile use becuase all of the features are very easy to use while on the go, especialy the alphanumerics (can't remember all 100 frequencies in the memory). The channel selector dial is awesome, but I didn't much care for the Volume and Squelch dials, they seem like joysticks, but they can't be tightened up. The mic is OK. Little on the big side, but I'm willing to compromise for the backlight keypad, that can access all the features of the radio. Excellent audio in and out! Great radio for the money!

Nice Radio! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I bought the IC-2100 less than a month ago and I really enjoy it. I been receiving good audio/signal reports. I use a 1/4 wave ground plane inside my apartment running 5 watts. During a recent tropo-ducting band opening, I got into a repeater in Portsmouth,Va. (200+miles) with just 5 watts. It receives well too. Definitely worth the money I spent!

great rig for the money Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I bought this rig at a recent hamfest. I wasnt even looking for a VHF, but when
I saw how inexpensive this little rig was i bought it. I've never been on vhf much,
but i took this little rig home and hooked it to a power supply and have been very
pleased. I recommend this rig. Just hook it up and your on the air! I have had no
problems with this rig.

good radio, just not great Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Radio seems well built. I would have liked a more simple menu/programing operation. (to many tubes and wires to make it user friendly). Traded it for a ft1500. WAY WAY CHEAPO PLASTIC MIC!!! (possible radio shack reject mic?????)
