Great Radio!! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I own 3 of these and each one has performed well with no problems. I'd say it's a hard rig to beat for the selling price.

TARZAN LIKE Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I'm fairly new to Ham radio. This was my first rig ever because of the price. I'm still amazed that you can buy something for $150 that can hit repeaters from 70 miles away. This radio does get some intermod depending on where I am -- but I have no fair basis for comparison as to whether other rigs are better or worse. My HT doesn't pick up the same intermod, but then again it's inside the truck...

A great 2-meter Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Im a 15 year old, I got my ticket when I was 12 years old. I am on a teenagers budget (very low)so I needed a radio for a good price and it has to last a long time. The IC-2100H surpassed all my expectations. I bought the IC-2100H beacause it was a good price and had many 2-meter options. This radio is GREAT. No intermod, high quality microphone with all the options on the mic, it recieves great, and a good large display. I run net control with the 2100 all the time. I now currently have it hooked to a MFJ-299 desk microphone since I use this as a base unit but the mic that comes with it is very good. The only problem is that I hade it hooked to a 12 amp power supply and it would sometimes lock up trying to transmit
55 watts. There wasn't enough ampereage but I traded the 12 amp in for a 20 amp (since I'll use the 20 amp for HF anyways)and now it works great no matter what.

Good, but a bit complex Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Bought radio new at dayton 2001, mainly to replace a kenwood that didn't work well on my cars lower voltage(11 to 12v, the pl drops out)
The icom works great, sometimes locks in xmit at low voltage, and is a bit complex to program, especially while driving. Also had to READ the manual. Programming was not straight foward, but the mic makes it easier than from the front panel

My YAESU is easier to program than this thing! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
My father in law got this radio as a christmas gift and got his license last month. I asked if he had programmed it yet and he said no but I was welcome too. So after about an hour I finally got 12 channels programmed and called it quits. What a pain.

recomend it to any one !!! Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
This is a great radio. It is solid built and a proven performer. It is true that the rig gets hot but I have had very good signal reports and many far away contacts for example I live in castle rock CO and I have talked to some one in Brighton on the 146.520 and that is out standing, any one who knows Colorado would agree. So over all this radio has served well would not give it up for any thing else. Not to mention the great price. $122 w/ new ham discount. Great rig don’t hesitate to go out and buy one.

Chalk one up for icom

Excellent but Expensive Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Bought mine secondhand as a spare 2M set for the Car. Very impressed with the display and most of all the Receiver is outstanding. No pager , breakthrough just good clear load audio on both Transmit and Receive. Icom have done a great job with this one. When I bougt mine it did not come with the original supplied hand mic which meant that I could not transmit a 1750Hz tone for repeater access.
When reading these reports I could not beleive the cost of these radios in the US. I found a brand new for sale at $140, where here in the UK the price is £239 or at todays exchange rates $460 unbelievable

Strong, Loud, and Clear! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Had this radio for about 2 weeks now. Replaced a VX-150 that wasn't getting any use. Payed $144 for it and it was worth every penny. What a deal! The radio is very simple to use and has a great display. The audio is clear and the receive is real strong. I get nothing but good signal reports on all the repeaters in the area. If I could change one thing (and I might) I would like a small fan on the back similar to the 207H. Nothing better then keeping the rig cool... but when not on 55Watts it doesnt have any problems anyway. Great rig great price! and the new Mic is awesome way better then the old style in my opinion!
