Sorry I didn't put this in my last review.
Because the TR-6 shares the same physical size as the rest of the Drakes, it's 19 tubes put out a LOT of heat.
I learned this back in 2000 working worldwide DX with my TR-6/amp combo.
I put my forearm across the top cover and it hurt.
Adding a 24VDC fan running on 12VDC and the cover is now cool, and the fan can't even be heard.

Because of the performance of the TR-6, MANY 6M radios have come and left. Icom 551D (with ARR preamp), Icom 575H, etc, etc.
The old Drake is STILL my standard. And it's NB is the BEST!!!

real nice Time Owned: more than 12 months.
ser #151 all tubes- this a nice radio 6m 100 watts plus.( cir.abt. (1968-1972) drake made abt. 601 of them. really like mine just not many f/s reason for a 4 is because of age about 39 yrs. old. works 100% looks the same.
