great keyer Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I got my keyer cmos4 wired back in July of 2005.Wow can't say enough about how good the keyer performs plus Bob at Idom Press is great to deal with.I love the compensation keying feature for the IC756pro series short dit when using breakin the keyer really cleans it up plus the auto space feature and full-proff memory loading feature. You cant go wrong with any of Idom Press keyers. I also have owned the K3 which has more memorys than you could possibly ever need. Get one you will love it.JOE KØKES

excellent +++ Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
A Christmas present that I just built. Instructions are top notch, parts ID the best and well designed and screened board. I love building stuff and this takes me back to my Heathkit days. Worked first time and only took a few hours. Great company and design. Plus, when you're done it is really cool to play with and set it up just the way YOU want it. Try that with other keyers!!!!!

Very fun 2 evening kit Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I bought the kit almost 2 years ago and finally got around to building it. Heathkit style instructions and top notch parts. Very nice design. Built the kit while watching TV over 2 evenings. Worked perfect the 1st time I powered it up. Will take a while to get used to programming it via morse code though! A beautiful keyer, a fun kit, and very smooth operation.

What a Pair!! Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
CMOS-4 keyer and SCAF-1, what a Pair. How can you go wrong with these two products, I wrote my feeling about the SCAF-1 a while back, now own two of them. These are more than the marketing verbage says.

Very Nice Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I wanted a small memory keyer to go with my IC-706IIG so I built the kit in a few evenings. It went together per instructions and works just fine with the radio. Good quality parts and board. Instructions are easy to follow and the memories are just what the 706 needed to be a versitle "go anywhere radio". I believe the keyer is money well spent

Brilliant functionality, but small dry joint problem. Time Owned: N.A.
Living in South Africa, I ordered this item specifically based on the reviews I read here, as there were no local agents where I could have a look at one here prior to purchase.

I've used the CMOS 4 for around 5 days now and I agree with all that has been said in terms of functionality - the nicest keyer I've ever had. But....

When I plugged it in and started using it on air for the first time, it went dead on me in the middle of a QSO. My immediate thought was RF affecting the keyer, which I doubted in my shack, but anyway. The unit was totally dead, so I removed a battery, re-inserted it and presto, was back on air. All was fine until about an hour later, when the unit went dead again, but left my rig in a constant state of transmit.

Time for closer inspection. I disassembled the PC boards from the box and discovered that three legs of the main IC holder and two legs of nearby resistors had never beed soldered to the board! After sorting this out, the unit is operating perfectly. This doesn't detract from my satisfaction with the product - after all I consider repairs and construction as a vital part of the hobby and enjoy it as much as making QSO's. But I'm suprised this completed kit got past quality control with five completely unsoldered joints. This could have been a problem for someone who ordered the kit complete and dashed off on a field trip expecting it to work. Hence, the 4/5 rating. 73, Roger, ZS6RJ

nice, fun to build Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I had never put a kit together before this one. So if I can do it, then anyone can. I did suffer from a couple of "cold" solder joints, but that was my inexperience showing. Aside from that issue, the thing works great. Surprised at it's small size, was expecting something larger I guess. I have images of my construction process for anyone interested, look up my callsign, email me and I will send you the link.

Very pleased with this unit. Support from Idiom Press was immediate when I asked them questions and this was the week before Christmas.

No. #1 Contest keyer Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I run this keyer parallel with my contest interface and great to use for programed side bar comments. Never a miss, no RF problems. Buy one now. You will never want another.

Fun kit; great product! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
After several false starts (finally found my weak solder joint) I must say this keyer is all it's advertised and more. I'm using it primarily to brush up on my Morse Code, so I can get back on the CW bands. The unit has all the features and adjustments you could want and the controls are well thought out. I will be using this keyer with my tranciever, rather than the built-in one, just because I like the way it works. Great job, guys! Let's have some more kits!!
