Good & Honest Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I recently got my General which allowed me to use the HF on my Pegasus that I purchased in 2003. I didn't think it was transmitting so I sent it to Ten-Tec for service along with another Pegasus (built in 1998) I had purchased on Ebay that I thought wasn't working right either. They "repaired" both transceivers, and sent them back with notes that my diagnostics weren't correct. One of the radios needed some relays, but the other one was A-OK. I have since made many contacts on both radios, and am very happy with the way I was treated. I highly recommend Ten-Tec for their service. And, did I mention that they are in the good old USA.

I have owned a Ten Tec Centurion Amp for almost 15 years. Due to serious antenna problems on 160 meters (caused by my own poor construction), I have managed to fry various parts of the Amp on several occasions, thus requiring periodic trips back to the factory. The Ten Tec service has been nothing short of fantastic. The problem has always been repaired very quickly, I can always talk to the technician whenever I call, and the repair cost is reasonable. In the construction business we are often told customers want three things: (a) quality (b) speed/timeliness, and (c) low cost, but they can only pick two! Well, in the case of Ten Tec service, you get all three, and then some.

The repair department is unsurpassed, and an example to be followed by others. After reading horror stories of certain high end rigs, I purchased an Orion II, in part because I knew if there were any problems (there are none), the service would be first rate. By the way, the Amp has worked flawlessly now that I have finally debugged the antenna system.

Had great assistance from John in service as I tried to get amplifier control hooked. He advised me the correct connections for relay control and I was hooked up and working in 10 minutes! Bravo!

Great and competent work at a fair price Time Owned: more than 12 months.
First, they will talk with you and tell you whether or not you have a reasonable chance to repair it yourself. I repaired the HV PS in a Centurion and a ciruit board in an Omni 6+ with their help. Second, when you send it in, they fix it and do so at a fair price which I did with my Orion I which failed after two plus years of heavy use. I believe one of the reasons TT has many return customers is the service department's reputation.

ORION I Repair Time Owned: more than 12 months.
AOR UK Ltd - TenTec Direct
This company is the main agent for TenTec products here in the UK.
I purchased my TenTec ORION I from them approximately two years ago. Recently I had what appeared to be quite a serious fault develop and contacted their service department for advise. After discussing the problem for some few minutes it was decided that the best option was for the transceiver to be returned for investigation.
The service department arranged for the radio to be collected from my home, the fault was investigated, faulty components replaced and the radio returned to me all within 7 days...........what fantastic service.
TenTec has I think always had an excellent name for service in the USA and this UK company is certainly carrying on in that tradition.
Anybody thinking of buying TenTec equipment, or having it serviced, could do no better than dealing with AOR UK Ltd - TenTec Direct.

Second to none Time Owned: more than 12 months.
The factory encourages home repairs which are, more often than not, successful. I have owned Ten Tec equipment for more than a quarter of a century. Over
this time frame I have sent some gear to the factory to have warranty work, non-warranty repairs, and a
factory up-grade option done. In all cases, the turn-around time was less than two weeks from the day I shipped the item. And ALL the issues were resolved on the FIRST "visit." Ten Tec
stands behind its products and backs them up with
SERVICE. Ten Tec's commitment to help the customer is second to none!!!!

Two Thumbs Up Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I've had two repairs performed by Ten-Tec's Service Department, both done right the first time.

1) I could not turn off my Jupiter's RF attenuator. This was a warranty repair (blown diode) with approximately 1 month's turn-around time. It's worked FB since.
2) I sent in my Argonaut V for a hardware and firmware upgrade from v1.07 to v1.08. This took a couple weeks and improved the rig's transmit audio, among other things.
3) I'd also like to mention the excellent telephone support my dad received on his Titan linear amplifier several years ago.

This kind of support is definitely a factor when picking out new or used gear. To mention an example, hams who want factory support on Kenwood TS-930 and TS-830 rigs are now being turned away, while Ten-Tec still supports practically everything they've sold. Two thumb up.

The best service I experienced. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I wish all manufacturers had a service department this good. A few years back I purchased a used Triton station at a hamfest that needed some help. I called Ten-Tec and explained the problem and sent off the Transceiver and power suppply to them. Ten-Tec stayed in communication with the entire time from when they received my gear, right up to the time they shipped the gear back to me.

The radio and supply arrived back better than I could have ever expected. It was obvious to me they spent a good deal of time with both pieces of equipment, right down to cleaning both up from the lack of attention the prior owner gave both units. I felt like I had a good as new station, and for all intent and purpose, I did.

As for cost, I found them much more reasonable then some of the independent shops near me that I have used. I would highly recommend Ten-Tec's service department without any hesitation.

A leader in service Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Bought my first Ten Tec back in '79: an Argonaut 509. I left it connected to my long wire antenna during a North Dakota windstorm and found that my receiver sensitivity suddenly went south and one of the caps in the front end looked like it grew hair. (Seriously). I thought, "what a bone headed mistake on my part!"Sent it to factory and had it back in about 10 days and IIRC they had added a mod with a diode to prevent such things while doing the fix. Cost: $0.00! I've used them about three times and I am extremely impressed not only with the quality of their work, but the very reasonable cost. I'm getting ready to send my Argosy I at this writing. I know without question that the rig will be returned in good working order. Excellent service.

Excellent Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have had nothing but an excellent experience with Ten Tec service. I have had to use them three times over the past 20 years on some of my numerous pieces and each time was treated well and had the piece back in less than 10 days. This includes an Orion 1 that had a defective RF board that was replaced. The rig has run problem free an average of 8-12 hours per day the past two years since. I do think its very important on any rig to read the technical part of the manual that explains the chain of operation and how it works along with having a very good ground and/or torriods and chokes on all audio leads. 73's Steve
