Outbacker Perth 80-10m Time Owned: unknown months.
Have had this antenna for over 5 years now and have no reservations about recommending it anyone. It does need a sturdy mount at abt 7ft tall.On air it works very well 20 thro to 10 and would also handle my 500w amp on SSB (although the rating is only 150W!)...Many excellent contacts inc VK0IR on 4 bands. On 40 and 80 meters performance was adequate, but not outstanding..but then a mobile antenna on the low bands will allways be a compromise.SWR and bandwidth was favourable with the manufacturers information, although when mounted with my TRI-MAG super magmount, the verticle whip needed to be 1 inch higher than the factory "MARK" to hit reasonace. When this was complete all bands were fine.Contruction is sturdy and has withstood 5 UK winters...recommended.

Outbacker 8-500 Time Owned: unknown months.
I have only used this antenna for a month or so, and it has worked great. I've used it on 40m, 17m and 10m mostly. On 10m, from the car, I've broken a pileup on ER4DX on Thanksgiving morning, and worked SP9AID. Later, I worked ZD7KT on St. Helena Island. Works very well, and matches relatively easily. Band changes have to be made outside the car, but they go quickly and once you know how to set the stinger, they take about a minute to make. The antenna looks good and performs well. It makes a great complement to my IC-706mkII on the road, and I plan to keep it.

Great antenna! Time Owned: unknown months.
I own the Outbacker Stealth Plus. The small size and sturdiness of this antenna is amazing. Using it with my ICOM 706MKII is a joy. The hatch back mount is very strong and holds the antenna up very well.
Of course, it's important to maintain a good ground which requires scratching off some paint on the inside of my car door. And, changing of the coils, if you frequently change bands, is a little cumbersome--especially if it's the top coil.

I've worked many countries and DX is a blast with this unit! The slim silhouette profile and design also is a plus -- really, now.. how silly do we hams really look with one of those BugCatchers or big pipe-like contraptions? Clearly, an XYL's nightmare-- mine gives no objections to the Outbacker--actually I remember her saying.."looks neat!" I was in like flynn with this one!

But, the time I used it has been great.
I am changing to the Yaesu ATS 100 antenna system with automatic tuning, etc. just for easier use.

But, if you work one band mostly and infrequently change bands, you'll love this antenna. Cost is competitive to other mobile antennas. Customer support is great, too!

Recommended.
