Too expensive for Ham use! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Good performing tube... but who can afford them. I have, for the third time in 12 years, a shorted 3CX800A7. It's going to cost me $1000US for a new pair... I think it may be time to retire the Ten Tec Titan, or modify it to use cheaper tubes!

Reliable tube when used in properly designed amplifier. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have used a pair of these tubes in the Commander HF-2500 for 5 years. They are reliable in a well designed amplifier, having grid protection and operated within the Eimac ratings.
The indirectly heated cathodes may take 3 minutes to warm up, but the filiments only draw 1.5 Amps each. There is no need for a heavy screen supply or high current filiment transformer.
