Nice Radio and still solid Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I would give the 7000H a "Five" but the implementation of some of the standard features is a bit off to me.

Example, there is no knob to go up/down the band, you have to use Up/Down which to me should be an included feature and not the main way to tune the band. To use the tones, you have to put repeater pairs/offsets in memory which to me is weird. why not just do it the way most radios do it, dial up a frequency, hit the offset, dial in a tone. To MAKE you have to use memory is a bit off to me as well. To put stuff in memory takes a peak at the manual but not hard to do.

Be careful as even though many of the hand microphones used on other models, ARE NOT ALWAYS COMPATIBLE from one model to the next newer. For example, on the 5000, pin 8 on the mic is ground, on the 7000, it is 13.8 V. The 463 mic can't be used on the 7000 and you have to use the 463A. They look identical but they aren't wired that way. Easy to screw up a radio putting ground on a "hot" pin.

Other then the odd way of doing some things, etc. they are nice radio, unfortunately, not supported in this country any more or sold here. I do not believe they are even making 2 meter radios.

But, for an older less than $100 VHF higher power radio, they aren't a bad unit to have.

State of the art design in it's time! Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Works very well in it's class, nice, rugged design. The radio should be much better on programming, but because of it's top quality design back in the early 90's, I'll give it a "5".

OK for second rig. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Works ok, pain to remember the tone to number setting. Seems to be off frequency on the recieve side when cold (0F), will shift right out of the bandpass and take a few minutes before the recieve audio comes back. No way to turn off dtmf in case you hit a key while mobile.
