Great Dual Band Ground Plane Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I've owned the Comet GP-9 for almost a year and have been extremely please with it. I run it concurrently with a set of Cushcraft 26B2 boomers. It is mounted at the top of a 50 foot Rohn tower.

On 2 meters I can almost always hear and communicate with a simplex station or repeater within 125 mile radius of my QTH running 50 watts. When it gives a 1 or 2 "s" unit the 26B2 boomers will do about 5 or 6 "s" units. That's pretty darn good for 2 meter FM omnidirectional coverage!

The SWR on the 2 meter band is flat -- 1.1/1 but its between 1.5 and 2.0 on the 432 / 440 band. It's OK on 70 cm but don't expect the coverage. I get about 35 miles running 20 watts.

It's easy to assemble, well made, and reasonably priced. It survived a 90 mph wind when a competor's model didn't.

You won't be disappointed with this one.

Reliable & Sturdy Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Actually, Comet wasn't my first cheaper/choice but it was out-of-stock. Must say I couldn't be more happy with the GP-9. I've not used it on 440 (no gear), but never failed me with 2 meter contacts. A well made antenna that survived severe Michigan weather (wind & ice) the past several years. 73, Bob (W8OWL)

Excellent Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have had two of these Antennas, one took a hit some years ago, and so I again bought one, when we relocated to the country. I have pushed it with as much as 190 watts and the SWR is still near perfect. As for the omni directional pattern, good God, with it being up @ 60 feet, I pull repeaters up in Mid Ohio, and we live in the Michigan Thumb area. So for my money, it's now a vertical testimonial that’s reaches out and receives as well. If you need a better Antenna than this, well get a 17B@ and point the dam thing. But for all around, high db gain and has managed to take on several cold windy wet freezing winters at 75 MPH cross winds, this is the one.

not what I expected Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Hi, In live in north texas,I bought a gp 9 from texas towers. This antenna works great on 2meters, but on 440 I have 2.0 + swr, I am currently looking for a replacment. Don't know what happend anttena worked great for 6 mos.
I think it flexes to much in the wind, I am goin with dual set up of db products antenna..

Working Great! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The Oklahoma City Autopatch Association just installed a GP-9 at 330' on a 500' commercial tower. The 2m side presented an SWR of 1.06 to 1; on 70cm, 1.1 to 1. So far, users have noted improved coverage. We'll see how it survives the first ice storm of the season.

Awesome coverage! Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I have been tickled with the performance of this antenna. Only have 5 watt rigs in the house. I live in the San Joaquin Valley of California and decided against a beam so I could get all around coverage. That and my TV rotor I use for the mini HF beam would be overloaded. My GP9 is 20' high. I've gotten better coverage than expected. This is a good antenna. Our repeaters are high but far away. I hit several daily that are 70 miles away. It makes the difference between not getting in with a rubberducky and full quieting with the GP9. Use care when assembling (common sense). I'm glad I got this one. It's been great on those tropo days too. But a coat hanger would work then too. hi hi

Nice construction, when together in 5 minutes, really! 2m excellent rx and tx. 70cm rx could be better. Overall really impressed!

so far a good antenna Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I just put up a GP9 at the house and mounted it on the side of the tower at the top at 32'.so far it works great.i'm getting good range.I can hit repeaters that i could not hit before. And it was real easy to put up since it is only about 5lbs.

not completely happy Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I'm not happy yet but hope to change that. This antenna is to be used on a 442.05 repeater. It had an SWR of 2.6 at that frequency but a much lower
one around 447. Most users would be fine with that but it was not good for the repeater. I've not used it on 2 meters but there are few monoband 440 antennas on the market.
When I tried to tune the antenna, I managed to break one of the very fragile 3pF capacitors at the base. Now I'm having a little problem finding a replacement.

Great!!! Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
This antenna is a really really nice antenna. It is constructed well and gets out really well. I live in Los Angeles, CA and can hit Catalina with 500mW and get 5/9+ reports. I can also hit Long Beach simplex! Very nice antenna and good job Comet!
