Fabulous service Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Low serial number 746 Pro started having transmit problems on 6 meters and 20 meters. David Smith at Burghardt replaced several diodes and tuner control unit, replaced the PBT control and performed some driver mods, all under warranty for a three year old rig! He also installed the BEV-746 protector kit. All this in less than 7 working days on his bench.

Unit back and sounds fabulous!

no quibbles here! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I had to send in my 746 non pro because of the drivers going bad as well as the auto tuner for HF and 6 meters not working. Im not sure but I think my rig took a static charge while I wasnt home. They fixed everything and tuned and aligned the rig for a reasonable rate. I also had the BEV 746 installed. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY, recomend the BEV 746 mod to any 746 or 756 owners. Its cheap insurance for 79.95!

I will continue to do business with Burghardt's

Excellent service! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I had purchased a low serial number ICOM 746 (on the internet) which looked brand new, but although receive was excellent, it did not transmit. Burghardt had a good reputation, and was close, so I sent it to them. I had it back in ten days, very reasonable bill, transmit fixed fine. (Drivers had gone bad.) Then, a week later it stopped receiving! Transmit still fine, but no receive. I looked at their warranty and shipped it back. It took a little longer to find the problem, BUT - I got it back, NO CHARGE, and they paid the shipping! The receive problem may not even have been related at all to the transmit, but they fixed it for free.
I can guarantee that when ANYTHING goes wrong with my stuff, I will ship it to them! Excellent service, and they really stand by their work. Super folks! They are sure nice to do business with.

IC-746 Repair Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have never written a review before, and I have never had need for any repair after operating for many years: but you can trust David to do the right thing(s) for your equipment and that's all that need be said. He runs a top-notch bench and has high principles. Nice to have one vendor that can service what they sell!!!

IC-746 Pro Repair Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have an early serial Icom IC-746 Pro. As most hams know, there is a failure which Icom attributes to ESD that involves IC-151 in the transmit chain. I recently sent my rig to Burghardt to have this problem corrected. Burghardt has a mod called a BEV-746 which I encourage all 746-Pro owners to read about. David Smith installed this mod, which I paid for and at the same time he did all Icom upgrades and replaced the IC under warranty. My rig was out to South Dakota and back in a week. I applaud Burghardt for their fine service.

I sent my new 857-d in for warranty repair and had it back immediately. According to UPS records, it was rec'd and sent out within 24 hours. Now that is FAST repair and the radio works GREAT!

Need to follow up with them Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I purchased a used Kenwood TS2000 from Burghardt's, and sent it back for some warranty work before their used equipment warranty ran out. I called and spoke with the service department and verified that the work needed would be covered under warranty. They also stated that they could do the MARS mod for no charge as they were opening up the radio anyway.

I shipped off the radio, and called a couple of weeks later to verify they had received it ok. They looked around for it and found that it was placed on the wrong shelf, which was delaying repairs, but after my call, they got it located correctly. They then finished repairing it on a Thursday, but didn't ship until the following Monday, and when it arrived, there was a bill for the repair job. I had to make another call to Burghardt's to get that straightened out. Jim did remove the charges, though, as had been quoted me from the beginning.

The repair job seems well done, but you do have to check with them a few times to make sure everything is going as it should.

Good work & quick turn around time Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I would use Burghardt Repair Service again and would recommend them to others. They were able to correctly diagnose my Yaesu FT-857 over the phone. It was shipped on 6/30 and received back on 7/12. Very good turnaround time including shipping time! The radio works great now. (It needed realigned.) I had not used them before, but read good reviews here and decided to give them a try. Recomendations from other hams is the BEST advertising.
