In 1997 the audio in my Yaesu FT890 went out. I bought a Kenwood 570D(G) which I can't stand to use as my primary rig. Receive audio doesn't compare to the rich sound of the 890, DSP notwithstanding. Finally sent the 890 to Yaesu last year, they kept it for 6 weeks, said it was a "loose connection. Yaesu "fixed" it for about 10 hours, then the audio went out again. Sent it back to Yaesu. Another 6 weeks in the shop. They said they couldn't find anything wrong, replaced a bunch of parts anyway, and it worked sporadically for a few more weeks. Sat on the shelf until I read the good reviews of Burghardt on Eham. I sent the 890 to them. They received it on a friday, on the following monday afternoon I got an email that it was fixed. They shipped it back on Tuesday, with an explanation of the repairs, and the broken part. It's been working fine since then. The only difference is now the S meter shows 150 watts out FM, 125-150 out SSB and CW peaks, 75 out AM. Before Burghardt repairs, the meter was dead on 100 watts out. I'll hook it to a wattmeter to see if they really did boost the power, which would be a nice perk. The audio sounds fine now. Cost $178 including shipping back. I'd use them again in a minute...

I have been useing Burghardt for about a year for service and makeing new purchases. They are great on taking care of business in my book, just tell Michele what you need and its a done deal.

Worked the dead PLL on my 727R HT several years ago. From the time I shipped the radio, to the time I got it back was only six days. The cost was a very reasonable $45. Hope to never need a radio repair severice again, but it's nice to know that shops like this are around if I do.

i will not deal with anyone else,i have developed a professional friedship with jim and michelle,who dont want just your business,,but your trust as well,,i have spent many thousands of dollars with them,,and will contiue to di so,,other shops should take notice of how a real ham shop should be run,,keep up the good work!!!

Good communication, prompt turnaround time, very quick to get to the repair. Staff have always been courteous on phone and as a free bonus, you get to talk to real people who have SEEN your radio, not just it's repair order on a computer screen. Good people to deal with!

I sent in my 765 as it needed repair.
These kind folks made it better than new,
and they brought it to Sioux City so I
could pick it up.It has never worked better.
I am well pleased.
