Great Service! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have dealt with Burghardt several times over the past few years (purchases and repair service) and have been very pleased each time. I have found their prices very reasonable and fast shipment when I purchased items and fast turn around on repairs. Two thumbs up!

Don't Waste Your Time!! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
No call or e-mail after they recieved my rig. I double boxed and insured my $1500.00 radio and I would at least like to know it got there ok! They said they would be on the phone too much. Repair was extreamly slow! It took them over a month to fix my radio and return it. They kept blaming Icom for shipping the parts slow. They had my rig 3 weeks before they even opened it to trouble shoot. I got tired of calling them to find out they had not done anything to repair my radio! I called them at least 5 times and just got the runaround. Overall, the people I talked with were very rude. I would not recommend Burghardt for anything. They show the worst Amateur Radio has to offer and I don't see them staying in business very much longer! Do yourself a favor and send your rig back to the factory. Don't waste you time with these loosers!!!

Geat Experience Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
It's never fun to have to send your rig in for repair. After looking at several repair facilities here, I decided to send my Yaesu to Burghardt. I'm glad I did. They were very responsive with emails and questions I had. They repaired my radio, installed factory mods, and even provided very nice foam padding for the shipping boxes. I buy their used rigs too and have always been happy with my purchases.

Excellent Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have purchased several new rigs from
Burghardt and a couple of them needed repair
during the warantee period. In one case they
replaced the radio and in other cases repairs
were made within a short time frame. In one
case I ordered a book that shipped but never
arrived. Jim sent another book out pronto.
I will order from them in the future. Good
outfit.

Honest, kind and follows up. Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I have purchased many rigs from Burghardt Amateur Center. I have had some components go bad on some of the gear. I have talked with Michelle, Jim and David on the phone several times and found them to be kind, supportive and honest. I have never been told they would do something and then not follow up.
Their 10 day repair time, they have set for themselves, is a achievable goal. It is my understanding that this period starts when the equipment is received, which is fair because shipping is not a controllable for them. This does mean your equipment could be sitting on the shelf for 9 days, while other gear is being repaired, and fixed on the 10th day but, it falls within the 10 day period.
Remember to include, in writing, a statement that covers the problem you are experiencing and background. What I mean by background is what your operation settings were and operating mode, when the problem occurred. Pack the statement in the box with the equipment you send to them. This will give them a reminder of your problem when the equipment is set on the bench for repair.

I am very quality minded so on one occasion I decided to look inside to see what kind of workmanship David was putting out. It looked great! I had a 746 BEV kit installed in a 746 Pro.

I have always been treated fairly and when they said they would get back to me they did.

I rank them highly and will continue doing business with them.

The Place to go! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have used Burghardt's repair service several times and have never had any problems. They do what they promise when they promise it. They are always polite and very easy to talk to. It's now also the only place I buy my radios!
For any Icom 746 or 756 series radios, have them install their BEV 746/BEV 756 Mod. Cheap insurance at $79.99.

Sucks Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This was the second time I had utilized Burgardt for repair.

The first time was last year, and while the problem was fixed, they set an expectation that my 1000MP would be repaired within two weeks. Two weeks passed, nothing. It took a call to South Dakota to put some heat behind the order, and the radio was repaired.

At that time, I merely thought that they had quite a backlog, and gave them the benefit of the doubt.

This time, the radio developed symptoms of distorted transmit audio. I sent the radio, explained the situation, and was again told it would be two weeks. Two weeks passed, and the radio WAS NOT EVEN TOUCHED, WITHOUT SO MUCH AS A CALL TO LET ME KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON!

At this point, with a contest a week away, I asked that they send the radio back, and not to touch the radio. I was promised that it would be sent back and I would see it in time for the contest.

Good thing I had a backup rig. Another week, the contest had passed, and I had not yet received the radio. Another call to Burghardt revealed that they HAD looked at the radio, and supposedly found the problem.

I received the radio, with a bill for $206.00, with only $7.00 being parts that supposedly fixed the problem.

I tried to be a nice guy about it, and let it slide, and thought I had piece of mind in knowing that the radio was supposedly fixed.

I received the radio, took it out of the box, fired it up, and the problem obviously was not fixed, no better than when I had sent the radio.

So, to sum up, they dragged their feet, did unathorized repair, and still did not fix the problem.

If Jim Smith wanted $206.00, he should have just asked me.

They will NEVER see another cent of my money, and I will share this story with anybody who needs repair. INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTING.

Great !!! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This company has worked on several radios and amplifiers, for me. The have fixed a Kenwood TS450SAT, and a Yaesu FL 2100B and two Kenwood TS 830S's. They are always polite, speedy and proffessional. I highly recommend them, to all of my friends. Save yourself the trouble and heahache....skip the factory and send it to Burghardt.
