Great True Charger for Gell cells Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This is actually a SMART charger. When I looked into chargers for my gel cell and my glass matt battery (a type of gel cell) I was surprised to find that most chargers did not properly charge these types of batteries. Most of them had two-step chargers and none but the very expensive had voltage/temperature measurements to determine when to change steps. Most of them do it off of time or a voltage measurement. This is a top quality charger that will not SHOCK your batteries.

What’s more it is a kit! You can get a pre built and tested version but being a ham I opted for the kit form. It is easy to build and would be just fine for a first time builder practice (it was my first kit). The manual is wonderful and very helpful to the builder that is not already familiar with electronics. It took me about 3 hours to build it and it has worked great every since.

You can also make it a 0.5 amp charger at your option at build time. A good product at a wonderful price.

absolutely great Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
built the 1A model and added toggle switch for 1a or 1/2 A rate.
also added external 0-3amp analog meter to view charging. used on 3ah gelcells for qrp
plus two 25 ah rechargables for 2meters and qrp, just great.

great Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I travel all over the world on business. My car sits in the garage with a A&A charger connected. It's never failed to start even after one year. I've had the charger for 5 years
