Good mike Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
After a week's use, I began experiencing intermittent audio. Then, it went dead. Had to return it to where I bought it. Got a replacement two weeks later. Been using it ever since. Good audio reports. No further problems (fingers crossed). I'd recommend it as a "premium" mike for use with ICOMs. I'd have given it a 5 except for the problem I had with the first one.

Good Mic, but... Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I have used the icm microphone for about 6 months and have had generally good results with it, but I had a couple of questions about it's use. I called Bob Heil to ask these relatively simple yes or no questions, and got a lecture instead about the ignorance of ham operators, and indirectly, my ignorance. He talked down to me as though I were a beginner, going over and over things I never asked, and knew perfectly well.
I have talked to Bob on the air a couple of times and found him to be very cordial and knowledgeable, quite unlike the way he was today. I hope he was simply having a bad day, but even though I like the icm mic, I am not inclined to purchase any more Heil products. I would have given the mic a 5 because of its performance and quality, so the review reflects my experience with the Man himself

Great Mic Far As I Can Tell! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I receive great audio reports from my iCM connected to my IC-718. It appears to be very well built and was suggested to me by Bob Heil himself for the IC-718. The only complaint I may have would be that the cord is connected to the mic, rather than being something you can disconnect and more importantly lengthen or shorten as needed.

I am planning to purchase a boom and footswitch for it as I'm not happy having to lean over to talk into the mic. If you're looking for a great alternative to the stock mic for a 718, or the more expensive ICOM desk mic, this is the way to go!

5/5 Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I bought mine used, no less, from HRO. Worked great until it took a static discharge.

Shipped it off to the Heil Hospital and two weeks later got it back with a new element and only charged for return shipping.

Like the thread says. Good Mic. Great Service.

good mic better service Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I bought a new ICM mic and topless boom at the Collinsville, IL hamfest. When I got it home there was a bad connection in the mic cord. I e'mailed Bob and he said to send it to him. I did. I had mentioned that a longer cord would make for a better fit with the boom. Lo and behold it came back with a new 8' cord on it at no charge.
The audio quality I am told is excellent with my Icom 751a that I bought the same day.
Bob Heil's service and equipment has made me a believer.

Good, Crisp, Clean Audio Reports Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I am very satisfied with my choice of the Heil ICM for my IC-746 (not pro). I got mine from Universal for $81 and change along with the "top-less" boom to make for a truely "professional" installation. My only critisism is minor (and it is minor) is that the included mic clip is a little cheep. My musician son said, "dad, you gotta get a better clip." He gave me one of his standard clips and it fit perfect. Truely FB.

As far as the on air side of things, the flat response allows me to have reasonable control over the tonal quality using the very rudimentary controls in the 746. I get very complementary reports and am most pleased with my purchase.

Very good value in this product, highly recommended.

5 out of 5 for the iCM Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Very good value, especially when pricing the name brand equipment, i.e. Yaesu, Kenwood mics.
Sturdy design with excellent audio quality. Tends to lean more to the lows than highs in ones voice. Articulation and response is great.
Platinum finish flawless and beautiful.
Would recommend the mic to any pre 'pro' iCOM user. Paid 89.99 through HRO.
73 and good DX!!!

As Advertised... Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I've had this microphone for a little over three months and it is quite an addition to the 'Icom' setup. I'm running a 706 MK2G and added this mic to it, only to hear contacts tell me how much clearer I sound... More natural, to be exact. I also added the W2IHY 8 band microphone equalizer. In concert, they work great together. A great mic and a great equalizer give me all the punch I need - without taking excessive bandwidth! The Heil iCM microphone is a definite must have for any Icom owner. 73!

Meets the need for older icoms Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Agree with the previous reviews- great audio, construction and looks. I wanted to add that I made an adapter so that i can use the icm with my 4-pin icom-551 (6-meter all mode, mid 1980's vintage). The reports have been very good. The mic gain setting is the same as for when i was using the icom-sm2 preamplified mic. So, this mic really does work as advertised. Thank you to Heil for addressing an important niche. --ray
