made a big difference Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I used another headset that was kind of a copy of a real heil headset until I started to get RFI on 15m when changing the radio after a few years.

I have to admit that the yaesu seems more sensitive picking up RFI that the kenwoods I own but the Heil Proset is the ONLY headset so far not picking up RFI on cable or connectors with the yaesu. (and yes all grounding, wiring, etc... is done by the book).

Besides the good RFI shielding, I like the number 5 insert for decent ragchew, cristal clear audio and good voice response. IMHO the number 4 is to sharp, and with all my radios I can tailor the bandwith in TX so getting the 5 sharp like a knife is a matter of setting a few knobs.

I got the headset second hand from a friend, so it was already used for several years and it still looks great. I renewed the earpads. All the mechanical parts still look and work 100%

I hope I can use it for many more years to come, I very much enjoy the audio reports I'm getting.

I use it mainly on a ft1000mp and ts2000.
I highly recommend this piece of hardware.

Great Headset and Service Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I've had my Pro Set since 1992. Never a problem until recently, 10 years later. The mic would go on and off intermittently. I would have to move the boom to get it working again. Turned out after closer inspection that there was a bad crack where the boom connects to the headset, obvously caused when I dropped the headset or crushed it when it was packed in a suit case.

I sent the headset to Heil last week and received it back today all upgraded and repaired. Excellent service!!

I've used this headset at several multi-multi contest operations and it has held up very very well. Several other's have used the headset and like it a lot.

If your in the market for a headset, this is a must buy.

Excellent! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
No problems here, but I prefer my BM-10 for comfort.

Heil will take back your old BM-10 and "repair" it for a song ($30 or 35, I forget, exactly). My basket case unusable set came back "like new" (actually, new), and it was like seeing an old friend after years of separation.

But the Proset keeps more noise out. Each has its place.

Over priced, poor quality Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Very poor design that has many mechanical problems. I had this head set for 8 years and had to perform maintence on it many time. My aviation headset for my passenger cost about the same, sounded better, and has been thrown around the car and airplane is much better.

I finally sold this for half of what I payed (a deal for me) and went back to a desk mic and headset.

Contest,Dxpedition everywhere Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This Headphones are so good, I decide to have 2 pairs . With HC4 on the MIC , I use 1 in the schak for Dx'ing and contesting, the other pair is for Dxpeditions.
You can also to change parts of the Headphone and it's very easy.
I'm really very happy.

PIECE OF JUNK Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
OWNED A PROSET 5 FOR ABOUT A YEAR. THE TWO EARCUPS FELL OF THE HINGED PORTION OF THE HEAD STRAP AND TORE THE CONNECTION OFF. TRIED TO REPAIR BUT FOUND THE PLASTIC HINGE WAS CRACKED. WORKED MANY PEOPLE STATESIDE FROM HAWAII AND COMPARED WITH ICOM SM-20 MIC. WITH THE GAIN ADJUSTED FOR EACH WITH ABOUT THE SAME MIC LEVEL OUTPUT, ALL OF MY TEST STATIONS (10) SAID THE ICOM MIC SOUNDED BETTER - CLEARER, MORE BASS, CLEANER; AND, MORE COPYABLE THAN THE HEIL PROSET.

SAVE YOUR MONEY AND BUY A DESK MIC SPECIFICALLY FOR YOUR BRAND OF RADIO, E.G., ICOM, KENWOOD, TEN-TEC, ETC., AND BUY A GOOD PAIR OF HEADPHONES LIKE AKG, SONY, KOSS.

YEAH I KNOW, THE BOOM MIC AND FOOT/HAND SWITCH IS CONVENIENT BUT THAT WON'T HELP SOUND AND/OR SPEECH QUALITY NOR WILL IT FALL APART AFTER A YEAR'S USE, AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRES.

Excellent with service Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I actually owned three sets. The first set I left in Vietnam for Hau (3W6LI), the second set traded with a friend (W0OXB), and the third set is the new HC#6 for ICOMs (not released yet). I am very hard on these sometimes and had problems to with them. Bob Heil himself helped me out and then exchanged my mic for the HC6 ICOM mic to boot. It works great and DX with it many times. I use it while in Vietnam and other small DXpeditions.
Product works great and Bob and others at Heil give excellent service. If you go on DXpeditions or chase DX, it is very good.

Good Value - Great performance Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I've used the Heil Proset with the HC-4 element for years and have found it to be
very comfortable over the long haul in DXing, contests, and rag chewing alike. The
HC-4 element does have some additional "punch" to get me through the pileups and
bag another new country. I've worked 188 countries in the past 4 months. As a fairly
"rare" location (there are a lot of hams out there who have never worked Alaska), I
spend hours on the air with the Heil Proset passing out contacts - nice to be on the
other end of a pileup! With the new IC-756Pro, I can tailor the audio a bit to offset
the "squeaky" sound another reviewer alludes to. Overall, I'm very pleased with the
equipment. In my 40 years as a ham, I've come across none better. 73, WL7M
