Good vintage Trio-Kenwood Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have actually owned one of these Trio TR-5000 6 meter transceivers for several years. Picked up mine at one of the hamfests in Texas, maybe Hamcom in Arlington. The transceiver uses late '60s technology and is crystal control transmit. I do not have the matching external VFO. I would like to have the VFO if anyone has one. The Trio model for the VFO is the VFO-10. The receiver is tunable from 50 to 54 Mhz. The transceiver will operate in the AM and FM modes. The transmit output on mine is about 8 watts output. I have actually worked several stations on 52.525 FM with this radio. I need to get a crystal for 50.4 and try the AM mode during 6 meter band openings. I believe this radio is good quality since its still operating after nearly 40 years. I only give it a 4-Good rating due to it lacks SSB mode but its fine for what it is. 73 de Randy, WB5KCM. wb5kcm@arrl.net
