Great Product Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Like many, I also received my Goldline mic as part of a giveaway with my kenwood TS-2000 rig. I also have not noticed any annoying smell from my mic, so it's possible there's been a change somewhere in the materials used? Who knows . . .

I love my Goldline mic, and it sounds and looks great. I wound up purchasing the optional boom assembly and the footswitch, which really made this a convenient setup.

My son calls the mic my "Pimp Mic" because of it's shiny gold screen covering the element! It's definitely a *flashy* mic given it's design, but I thoroughly enjoy using the Goldline because of it's overall quality and sound.

I originally had a problem setting up the audio properties and Bob Heil promptly emailed me with assistance, which I not only appreciated, but fixed the problem as well.

I very much like the Goldline microphone, and will continue to consider future Heil products.

Very Nice Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Beautiful microphone with great sounding audio. Use it with my 756 ProII and W2IHY 8 band equalizer and EQ Plus. Highly recommended!

Excellent ! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Bought one used a couple of years ago. Worked great on the Kenwood 570dg. Works even better on my 746pro. I continue to get unsolicited comments on the excellent audio. I don't know what these guys are talking about that had trouble with the Goldline and 746pro. Maybe they had the radio settings wrong or got a lemmon. Mine works great, and I highly recommend it!

Personal Customer Service. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I'd acquired a nice FT-900CAT and wanted to use the Heil Goldline mike. It worked well with my Kenwood rigs, but needed a cable to match the Yaesu. The FT-900 required the modular plug, and wasn't sure the Yaesu modular adaptor would work. I emailed Heil Sound, received a response from Bob Heil himself. He sent the Yaesu cord with no strings attached, and it worked fine. My thanks to a considerate, trusting fellow Amateur. 73/Bob

One of the best Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have tried many microphones during years, no one has been as good as the Goldline for me. I am talking realy AM quality, but I do not using the mic together with an Icom rig... Some guys dont understand that Bob Hail has other mics for Icom, you need some Eq to make them fit to older Icoms.
I just order the Goldline Pro, and thats realy something....
Happy new Year

I also had this dog Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I used this mike for exactly 1 hour on an Icom 746, and promptly returned it. Audio was real tinny, and almost metallic sounding. After returning it, I bought an SM8, hooked it up, and got "wow, you sound great" audio reports. Look, if you like his products, he's the nicest guy in the world. If you do not like them, he is the biggest baby you ever want to speak with.

Not the best for 746 pro Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I purchased the Goldline GM5 for use with my new 746Pro I have used it for 50 Mhz SSB and also as Net Control for our 2M FM Net. After frustratingly trying to tweak the gain, compression, tone etc. settings to no avail, I finally tried out a $19 "Karaoke" mic I had lying around. Now I get remarks like "Wow" and "you've never sounded better" SSB reports are the same and no...I am not using too much bandwidth The Goldline simply is not for this radio. Maybe in narrow mode, under noisy conidtions on HF, it might work well, but why then sell it as "studio quality" ? Its truly misleading. It should read "Tinny, low quality easy to replace" I'm disapointed.

Very Poor Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Having read all the rave reports regarding this Microphone I decided to get myself one. Had to pay the full Rip-off UK Price (£157) for the mic and CC1 Connecting cable.
When I removed the Mic from the box, something rattled inside, I discovered that the HC4 Element inside the head was not secured, poor quality control. I also then discovered that when I connected it to my Icom 756 Pro the RFI Feedback was awfull. Turns out the cable supplied had not been fitted with the Icom "Decoupling Cap" once again, poor Quality Control. Having resolved these issues I discovered that the output from the Mic would not even move the ALC, let alone drive the radio and the audio output from the "Wide" Studio element was appalling and distorted. The poor audio quality was also confirmed with several on air reports. This also leads me onto the HC4 Insert which I found could not even be heard in the Headphones with the Monitor function engaged, Mic Gain and Comp at max settings.
This is the second Heil product I have bought and would never buy again, poor design and Poor Quality Control.
Hooked up the Icom SM 20 and low and behold, excellent audio reports and full power out from the rig, says it all.

Excellent mic Time Owned: more than 12 months.
but I could say the same about many others I have used. I despise "HI-FI" audio on the ham bands so I don't use the _Wide_ settings on the xcvr or the mic. It's about communicating, not broadcast work and for that purpose, it works well.
