Great MIC !! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I bought the GM4 and hooked it up to My Ten-Tec Jupiter and get incredible audio reports. It's tough and has a nice weight to it. Don't let reports of a smell dissuade you from purchasing this mic. It's hardly noticeable and I have a pretty keen knose.

Great Mic!!! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This mic is one of the best mics I've ever had for Ham Radio. Affordable and rugged enough to handle a 4 year olds hands DAILY!! Honestly, my little boy stands in from of it and sings Dixie Chick songs every day and handles it sometimes rougher than daddy wants (and of course the rig is off so he doesn't trasmit). The smell???...I guess I am as twisted as AA5CH....I never minded it at all...Great job Heil Eng's!

Worth having Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I use the Goldline all the time on my 1000MP. Wouldn't use anything else. It is much fuller sounding than the Yaesu 100MD mike. I get great reports! No greater compliment can be had!

So So Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Ok guys this is the second rig I have used a Goldline on. First icom 746 did not make the PEP power do what it should. SOLD IT. Second my new TS 2000. Did the same thing now maybe it is my voice but this thing just doesnt work for me. The quality of this one was good but sounded ok. Still I put the hand mic the rig does better. Now I put on a MC80 and WHALA where it should be pep at 100W.

Pleased and almost no smell Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have a Goldline with the HC 4 as second element since two days.

Bought it true http://www.universal-radio.com/ and saved quite some money J

I have an Icom IC 756 (NO PRO!) and found that the recommended settings are far to low in order to drive the modulator. After some adjustments I Ended with the Mike gain and the compressor both turned open for 3/4.
The setting for Base is -8dB and Treble is +8 dB. I use a foam plop cap and speak at nose distance into the mike.

SMELL:
Yes it smelt in the beginning and it irritated my face a bit. But after two days its almost gone.

Am I happy with this mike? YES

Try a Clothes Pin Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
This Mic works great. I Get great audio reports
and mechanically it is built well. If you don't
like the smell don' buy it. The smell is probably
the industrial adhesives used in construction.
Very good product. For intelligable speech this
product works great for SSB. The smell does
dissipate with time.

Good Reports Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I recently bought a Goldline GM-4,maybe its coincidence but I've been getting a lot of good reports lately,'nice sigs, strong sigs'.I've just used the full element, mostly on 6m ssb on my Icom 746 set-up as per supplied instructions. It's very well made and finished and it's also a very cool looking piece of kit, impresses non ham visitors to the shack!
BTW I also bought the SB-1 boom, and while it does the job OK,it doesn't seem to be of the same quality as the Goldline,I've seen better ones since for the same money in Music stores

The Best of the Best!!! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Greetings...

This is my very first review of any amateur equipment I've owned, and I feel compelled to write a review simply because this is an AWESOME product! I own th Heil Goldline GM-4 with the Studio cartridge and the HC-4 for DX work. I very rarely have to revert to the HC-4 element to pick up that elusive DX with this mic! I am currently running the mic with a Kenwood TS-570DG and it is a PERFECT match! I've also run it with a Ten-Tec Jupiter, a Yaesu 767GX, and a Yaesu FT-920...I DO have to admit that I had better results on the FT-920 with the MD-100A8C mic (Sorry, Bob...), but maybe I just didn't fool around with the audio TX settings enough to get the Heil to match the 920. My very first contact was with a gentleman in Michigan on 20 meters (no big deal, as I'm in Wisconsin...) and he didn't really comment on the TX audio...BUT, a mobile station in New Jersey broke in just to find out what rig and mic I was running and said it was the 'Very Best SSB audio he'd ever heard on the bands...' How's that for an ego builder?!?! Totally unsolicited and it made me feel REAL good about buying the GoldLine! I've since heard more good un-solicited comments than I could even begin to share here! I have talked to Mr. Heil on the air many, many times, but still felt kind of shy calling him last week to pick his brain a bit about interfacing the GoldLine with a specifice rig (which I did not buy.) Keep up the good work, Bob (K9EID), and look forward to talking to you again!

Out Standing Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I've owned a Kenwood TS-440S-AT for 12 years and have used an MC-85, MC-60, and an Astatic Silver D-104 with it. I have had good results from all, but, when I bought the Heil Goldline GM-5, wow!!! Unsolicited great audio reports all the time. I get asked what type rig, microphone, if I am running any special outboard audio gear, the works. When I tell them it is just a Kenwood TS-440 and the Heil Goldline GM-5 it blows there mind.

I have many friends who have bought this same microphone after hearing me and they get the same results.

Keep up the Good Work Bob Heil
Best Regards

Great Microphone! Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I own two of these mikes and I love them. I use one with my FT-1000MP Mark V and a second that I use with the IC-746. I get excellent reports with both and the quality of finish/construction is great. You get ALOT more for your money than you get with the optional Radio Manufacturer mikes.
Bob Heil is great to deal with. He stands behind his products and you can talk directly with him if you have a question or problem.
