It works Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
It was almost plug and play, I have TWC and I had to call them to open the ports on my router, this was after I spent 2 months trying to do it myself, if you have cable internet I learned the hard way it's best to get help from your provider !

OK Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I had a HRI-100 some years ago. Bought it second hand on eBay. Setting it up and using was easy. Sound quality was good too. But the majority of nodes/users are in Japan. Very very few activity in EU ... After having the unit for a year or so, I sold it again.

I guess it's like D-Star that as long as these systems are designed and sold by OEM's, the number of users will stay limited.

Works well - Delivers as designed Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Had the system operational for a few days. Works well and allows easy interface with radio and computer. Communications with server are easy but make sure to configure router and firewall in accordance to recommendations. System deserves to have a lot more nodes. The system is quite popular in Japan. The reason for the 4 rating is that I would expect to have a lot more nodes available in North America and Europe.
All in all performs as promised.

working well, but just a few users Time Owned: more than 12 months.
WIRES... works great, easy to use, good audio, nice solution with the rooms..... but just a few users outside Japan. I was the first in Germany and one of the first in Europe... some bought the HRI100... tried it, got no response and sold it. Biggest problem seems also to be the very slow and simple support from YAESU. The only person I found in Europe is Paul from YAEU UK. He is very helpful and gave lots of suggestion.

A very good solution for non-repeater users Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have set up a node in Hong Kong with the Wires-II HRI100 hub with my FT-8800R. Everything works fine. The recent software upgrade to 3.222 does boost the performance in XP environment.

Not many active nodes are there because many users forgot to open the UDP port 40000-50000. Even though you have set up the firewall, you can still use it if the UDP port range is activated.

With as small as 0.1W TX power, I can connect to nodes in USA, Japan, France, Greece, Mainland China, Italy, UK and Taiwan. Repeaters cannot offer this wide coverage I think.

If you set up a node, your Ham friends can easy access other nodes via the DTMF keypad or preset channels on the same freq.

The Wires-II Internet Radio Linking is a true wormhole for the radio communication!

Needs support Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
This VOIP system is easier to setup than IRLP and uses Windows 2000 or XP as the operating system. Hardware setup is fairly straight forward ( but need to use 2 conductor phone jacks into the audio inputs and outputs, not stereo). Also requires that your router firewall be deactivated ( use a dedicated computer for this application if you want to protect your data)

Software has user problems. The node list shown on Yaesu's site is deceptive. Of the 100+ US sites shown, only 20 or so are active. Most have probably not been set up. Many features don't yet work as advertized.

Audio quality is good, most nodes sound like a local user on the repeater. Audio setup is easy with Yaesu's level adjusting program.

I run my node with Windows XP and a cable modem. Software is reasonably stable with no crashes.

Biggest problem seems to be support from Yaesu. There is so little support or communication to the node owners that it appears that they are preparing to abandon this product. A new purchaser might be will advised to look at IRLP instead.
