Buy It! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I admit, I was skeptical at first but with peer pressure I took the plunge & now I have two. Take your favorite communications speaker and this one will knock it flat. You just believe what ears have been missing. Fine product.

Sounds Excellent !! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.

Hi

There isn't much left to be said about the Soundsweet Speaker, but the price is excellent and so is the speaker.

Great customer service - Sent a question off to Paul via email and got a reply from him within 45 minutes or so. Question answered.

Ordered my speaker and got it a few days later.
I really like it .. A Lot!

You got 30 days to try one and if for some reason you wish to return it, you can. I don't think you will though .. HiHi.

read the reviews here, ordered one from paul.
after listening to it for several hours, i have nothing but high praise for the speaker. i had an icom sp20 til quite recently and this speaker is in my opinion, a decidely superior product at less than half the cost. it's built like a tank
and sounds great.

I AGREE! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have tried many speakers through the years looking for the ideal, and I've found it in the Sounds Sweet! Previous to the Sounds Sweet, I had an $80 RCA book shelf that I thought did an excellent job. It's weakness, however, was that it couldn't handle even 50% of the rig's audio output without distorting. A few observations:

1) The dual cone 8" speaker does not compromise the crispy highs while providing strong bass response (low end spec is 100Hz).

2) The typical 1 to 2 watts of transceiver audio output can be applied to the speaker with very clean and clear sound (I really didn't want to crank up the rig audio output beyond the 2 o'clock position. Trust me, there was more clean audio generated than I've ever heard in a speaker I've used for HF)

3) Paul Sanchez, Sound Sweets' creator, was very responsive from a customer service perspective.

To sum it up, forget the fancy enclosures and the superficial audio filters of the matching rig units and get a Sounds Sweet!

The Best Speaker Bar None Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The bottom line is the manufacturers speakers are overpriced and can't hold a candle to the Sound Sweet speaker. I bought one and use it with my Clearspeech filter which is an unbeatable combination. The following week I bought another one. As these reviews of 5's pile up on Eham.net more hams will realize that this is the best deal going in the speaker arena. I don't even use my radio shack speakers anymore! SSB receive audio almost sounds like FM now!

My favorite speaker. Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I've used a lot of speakers over the years and this one is the best. It's better than my Hammarlund S-200 and it makes my radios sound better. At the time of purchase it was shipped promptly and it was well packed. It performs great and it's priced right. What more could anyone want?

Excellent product and company Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I think this speaker will catch on well. Quite simply it's the best Ham speaker I've ever seen and this small company deals with you as well as companies like Idiom Press and Elecraft. I bought a speaker switch from Radio Shack for $25 and run all my rigs through this one beautiful speaker. You can return it in 30 days if you don't like it - but you will love it! 73/Tim NZ7C

Provides Good Sound Reproduction Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I received one of these for Christmas from the XYL and my first project was to find space on the desk for this substantial black box. It's large and heavy but very well constructed and looks like it would last a lifetime. Oddly, it has no "Sound Sweet" logo or other writing anywhere on the cabinet, nor does it have any rubber or felt feet. So, you can position it any way that looks best for you or fits your space.
I have so far tried this speaker on my Ten Tec Omni 6+ and my backup Icom 751A. The Ten Tec is a bit tight in the SSB audio department and the SS speaker did not really help in this regard since there was little in the way of any "lows" coming out of the radio. I hooked the SS to my IC-751A and when listening to SSB with just one IF filter (which allows for a wider passband at 60dB) the speaker began to sound quite good with a good range of highs, mid-range and some lows. The clarity of sound from this 8" driver is the first thing you notice and the speaker is easily driven to room filling sound without having to turn up the receiver audio gain very high.
I currently have a Hammerlund S-200 vintage speaker (with a 6"X9" oval driver) hooked to my AOR AR-7030 SW receiver and it sounds quite good. My next test is to compare the SS on the 7030 which should allow for use of the full capability of the Sound Sweet. So far, its a very well made and good sounding unit and I recommend it to those wanting more fidelity from their HF rig or SWL receiver.

Incredible Audio! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I've tried a number of different 'ham radio' speakers but always felt I was paying more for cosmetics than performance. I've also tried 'stereo' speakers but found they were usually too inefficient and had an unnecessarily wide freq response.

The Sounds Sweet speaker not only looks good (albeit a bit large) but it sounds *awesome* as well.

Right now I'm listening to my Hammarlund HQ-180, a receiver known for its audio quality. However I've had a difficult time finding a speaker that the ol boatanchor would drive while sounding good as well. The Sounds Sweet speaker flat beats the pants off the original S200 Hammarlund speaker and for that matter any other speaker I've ever hooked up to it. AM is 'rich' and SSB is as clean & natural sounding as you could ever want.

Do yourself a favor and sell those tin cans the rig manufacturers foist off on you for big bucks and listen to something that *Sounds Sweet* for a change!

Excellent Value Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This is a real substantial speaker with just the right frequency response for good full-bodied audio. It is extremely well built. As noted in an earlier review, it reminds you of the big old speakers that came with tube receivers of the past.

It is indeed easy to drive with the underpowered audio sections of today's typical receiver. I tried it out on a number of my HF rigs including the Icom 756 ProII, Yaesu FT-1000MP and Kenwood TS-2000. In each case it was as good or better than the much more expensive matching speakers from those manufacturers. Currently I am running it on my Icom R-8500 receiver. It works great whether I listen to FM Broadcast or SSB phone.

This is definitely a great value, especially when you compare it to the alternatives. A note of caution though, this baby is big by today's standards, so make sure you have enough shelf space for it.
