Good supply once the 85db blower is modified. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I picked up this beast at a hamfest a year ago for $15. While it certainly produces clean power at up to 35 amps, the thing sounds like it has a fan from a 2KW amplifier. I ended up modifying the fan by putting two diodes in series to drop the voltage to it. Now it has a nice quiet sound and still seems to have plenty of cooling capacity available.

Built like a tank, never had a problem with mine.

No problems! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I've had this PS for at least 6 years with no problem whatsoever. I've wondered about the lack of a grounded power cord, but none of my other power supplies (wall warts; computer chargers, etc) have one, and most of my life (I'm 68) most things didn't have one, nor did my 220V appliances in Europe have one (ever seen a 220V set of miniature Christmas lights?), so why focus on that? I appreciate the multiple types of power outlets on the unit and I have used (am using) all of them. Would I buy one again? You bet! Any changes I would make? Yes - equip it with a built-in handle, as it is tough to pick up and move.

Fan noise no problem Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Of course, after 20 minutes of CW, the smell of burning electrics is somewhat disturbing.

Good, but not great Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Plenty of power, and good regulation. My only gripes are the noisy fan, and that it doesn't have a grounded line cord. I think the latter contributed to an RFI susceptibility problem; my homebrew antenna was malfunctioning, and the RFI actually shut down the fan completely! Otherwise, it's nice having the meters, the price was right, and it's nice having the various connection points on the front panel.

Good working unit Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I've had my 4035 for several years replacing a surplus unit that had mucho problems. The only problem with this one is that the transformer seems to run quite hot. Don't remember it doing that earlier in it's life. Fan works fine and is quiet. voltage regulation is good, Cabinet is strong and doesn't make noise. Only thing is that i'd like to have it supplied with a 3 wire power cord. Otherwise at this time i've only one complaint with mine

Don't waist you $$$ Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Traded this broken supply for a unfinished 2 meter Quad antenna. After reverse engineering , the LM324 was toasted and the current amplifier after the LM324 was also shot. The fan was toast too.
I repaired it but Hello MFJ!!!! where is the over voltage protection!!!! I would just love to have 24 volts applied to my $1000 rig.
The MFJ designer should be cained. (beaten with a bamboo stick until senseless)

Does anyone have a schematic of this pile of C**p?

Dead after 2 months Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Ok, so I figured I'd take my chances and get the MFJ-4035MV rather than order the Astron RS-35M and wait for it to arrive at the store. This PS powered a 65 watt mobile rig occasionally for 2 months, and then an IC-718 for one week. Last night I turned it on and it made a popping sound and the voltmeter went to "0" . Now the PS will power on but will not put out power.

I called MFJ and they want me to send this 20lb supply back to them for repair - at my expense, which would be about $30.00.

They went on to tell me that parts are parts, they get them from different sources, and I "just happened" to get a part that failed, and that they can't do anything about the shipping costs for this practically new, but failed, PS.

The tech suggested that I take it back to my dealer and see if he can help me.

Not the kind of reliability or customer service I expected for a 2 month old unit that never even saw much of a load.

This is the last MFJ product I'll ever buy. I paid my money, I took my chances, lesson learned, never again.

Good power supply Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have had the 4035 here in the shack since
august 2004 and zero trouble so far. Use it
to power my icom 746 pro and the sgc 235
antenna matching unit. The fan noise is low,
not at all objectionable. Knowing mfj's q/c
track record,i guess i got lucky.
Will post if trouble occurs.

Re-Badged Zurich actually Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Mine was purchased new at least 12-years ago, probably longer. It is a Zurich DPS-2512M made by the Zurich Electric Company of Taiwan. Back then MFJ simply put stickers over the Zurich logo and model number so it would read MFJ-4035MV. It has run flawlessly for all this time, although admittedly I have never really asked a lot of it. It has traveled with me from 3 houses in two different states and thanks to the solid build is none the worse for the wear. I have never had to lift the cover, so I can’t tell you a thing about what is inside; other then a peek through the vent louvers will reveal a genuine Sunon brand fan (reputation for being tough as nails). The center detent position on the voltage adjustment produces 13.84VDC as tested with a decent DMM, and for further adjustment the on-board meter is quite accurate through at least the center 1/3 of its scale. I have never clamped a lead to test the accuracy of the Amperage meter. I am giving it 5/5 but I realize it may not be an appropriate comparison to today’s MFJ manufactured models (sorry for messing up the curve). Would I buy an MFJ power supply today, probably not; it seems too much like shooting dice now a days! MFJ could realize a lot of good will if the company started by issuing a release stating that they are aware of their apparent sporadic quality control issues and detailing the steps they are taking to improve matters.
