Updated review: peaked for Satellite downlinks! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This converter is ideal for Satellite full duplex operation. Only a diplexer is needed to isolate the TX in UHF from the conveter.
This converter is rather narrow band. If peaked at 145Mhz can be fine for the 144-146Mhz but close to 144 and 146 the signal will be around 6 less than at 145Mhz. I wanted something really tuned at satellites frequencies and I peaked the coils at 145.850Mhz. As a receiver I use a Softrock Ensemble II HF sdr receiver so satellite signals just pop up from the noise floor at the waterfall. Really good signals from the XW satellites. The converter can be put anywhere, eventually close to the antenna. It has some gain, 15-20db so you might NOT even need a preamplifier, there are some coils to peak to the advantage of selectivity. Moreover the on-line manual is very explanatory.
