Best thing since sliced Bread Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I got mine to use as backup power for my house and to run a portable station as well as Field Day. It got losts of attention FD2003. I could have started a distributorship! Quiet, clean power and about 5 hours per tank of gas. We had computers, fans and lights for 3 stations running from it with an occassional coffee pot (we ran batteries for the radios). One minor complaint, the gas tank needs to be relocated. Now it sits right over the electronics, must be very careful when refueling.

Great for portable satellite ops. Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Greetings,
I use the EU2001 for portable satellite operations with my "PortaSat II" system (hometown.aol.com/n1hoq). I work LEO sats and OSCAR 40 from the self contained system in my pickup truck. The EU200i runs the Yaesu AZ/EL rotator, the laptop computer for tracking, lights when needed, and a 40 amp Diamond switching supply that powers an Icom IC-910H as well as a 435 100w brick when needed. With the down converters for 2.4 gHz. and the need for a high signal to noise ratio, a clean generator is an essential item. This one works beatifully and I have never run out of watts. It powers me up for my occaisional operations from Marconi Station, Cape Cod. One morning at 2:30 AM local, I headed out to the beach to work a low pass of AO-40 ( I needed the unobstructed horizon). Rare DXpeditions to Africa and Antarctica were calling! I parked on a boat ramp, setup the station and fired up the EU200i, right next door to sleeping neighbors! Can't do that with any old genny. It runs for at least 4 hours on a tank, but I've not "run it out" to find the limit. I have no complaints about this unit and it has exceeded my expectations when I bought it. Owned about 4 months.

Excellent for electronics Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I also have to disagree with the previous post about inverter hash and RFI. His unit must be defective in some way. I bought this unit specifically to run electronic devices and it has done a wonderful job to date. I have about 200 hours on it so far. I too used mine during FD2003 running a digital (PSK & RTTY) station and did not experience a bit of interference in the rigs or the laptops (all devices including the computers were powered from a single Astron RS-35M). The unit needs an earth ground since the ground and neutral are not bonded, but you should do that anyway from a safety standpoint. There was a slight amount of ignition coil noise (can you say "spark gap transmitter"?), which was expected, but as noted earlier the noise blanker on the IC-756 Pro II zapped it nicely. I have not hooked it up to a scope to look at the wave form, but I haven’t had the need to look at it that closely.

Fuel consumption was excellent (5-6 hours on a tank of fuel) and our generator was much quieter at 50 feet than the next closest generator that was 500' away with an external car muffler attached to it. You can stand right next to it and carry on a conversation. It is quiet, generates clean power and is very portable. What more could you ask for?

No Noise Here Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I have to disagree with the previous post. I suspect there is something wrong with his generator. Mine is completely quiet both audibly and electrically. Amazing to be able to stand right next to a generator and carry on a normal conversation.

We ran mine at Field Day without a hint of electrical noise on any band.

Looks good, light-weight, easy-starting, quiet, clean. My only complaint might be the small (1 gallon) fuel tank. However, it did run for about five hours on a tank running a very active HF station, computer, monitor, and fan.

RE: EU1000i Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I've had the EU1000i, which is the smaller version of the EU2000i, for over 3 1/2 years now. I've used it for 3 power outages, and it works great. It's quite, and reliable. I highly recommend either generator for quite emergency power operation, or camping, etc.
