FB Radio for 10M Time Owned: unknown months.
The Radio Shack HTX-10 is a great rig. I have had mine for a week now and have had nothing but good signal reports and good reports on the audio. It is a good deal for the price, the only improvement that I could see is to give us the CW capability and the addition of a PL deck.

Great Little radio for the price! Time Owned: unknown months.
I purchased my HTX-10 as a Christmas present to myself a few days before Christmas. I've had excellent reports on the audio quality, and sensitivity seems to be excellent. FM output is approx. 25 watts and SSB about 20 watts or so. AM output is about 8 watts. The radio is very user friendly with all functions being handled quite simply. I'd highly recommend this little rig to anyone who wanted to get into 10 meters. I use mine as a backup base station but plan to put it in my car to work some DX. My only criticisms are: No CW and no tone board option for FM/Repeater use. I would have spent a few extra dollars for those two options.
******** IF ANYONE HAS A CW MODIFICATION FOR THIS RADIO PLEASE LET ME KNOW ******* I know a lot of people who have them who would perform this mod.
Thanks for the bandwidth and hope to work you on ten meters!

Radio Shack did it again! Time Owned: unknown months.
Once again, the folks at Radio Shack have come up with a great rig at a low price! I own a Radio Shack HTX-100, HTX-202 and now an HTX-10. All three work great! My HTX-10 is brand new and already I have worked the world with 5-9/"great audio" reports. Maybe the other companies will get the idea of producing great products that are reasonably priced.

For the price it's obviously a five star radio Time Owned: unknown months.
Hey, LED readout, simple to operate, good audio, and a price where you can literally work the world for under 200 dollars. Obviously a modified CB rig. Nice job. Next model should have CW and charge 20 bucks more. Not great rejection but hey, adjustable gain will do fine.

Best Bang for the Buck Time Owned: unknown months.
After hearing friends on the local repeater talk of planning on receiving the rig for Christmas, and with my wife with me in the truck I mentioned that I would be REAL happy finding one under ther tree. Being the kind of guy that hedges his bets, I also went down to the local RS and got a rain check onthe day before Christmas. I passed that aong to a friend, I found one under our tree. Set it up in the shack and first two contacts were Czech Rep, and Croatia. Great signal reports, and I asked for honest ones. Then set it up in my truck and first contact therre was Slovakia.
I find I am having an FM hang problem though, didn't realize it was other than me until checking here. Glad to see there is a cure. I wonder if getting a better solid ground may also help? Now to find a better antenna setup for the truck. For $139 you can't go wrong. Besides, how many of us will operate CW while driving anyway?

Great radio for the money! Time Owned: unknown months.
I was given the HTX-10 for Christmas after much hinting on my part. I am very pleased with the radio. I have used it on SSB and FM quite a bit and have not experienced any problems at all. Audio reports are good from hams who I have worked. In fact I have chatted to quite a few that have the HTX-10 and have been very happy with their radios. If it had CW it would be perfect! On FM the power output is about 28 watts. In regards to the hanging problem of FM I haven't experienced that at all. Thinking about getting another one for the car. All and all a great little radio for the money!

Good Value for an Extra Rig Time Owned: unknown months.
I purchased the HTX-10 as "an extra rig" for use with RS-13 and my Ten Tec 2m. transverter. So far I have used it on 10m. SSB and CW. The rig is more pleasant to use than I expected. The 1 kHz PLL is a limitation, but its "ok" for SSB and FM operating. Essentially, you can scan the band in 1 kHz steps. When you hear something, then you use the fine tuning to hear the audio to "identify" the station. This can be done with the buttons on the microphone, and the scan feature which I have not tried. Audio reports I have received are good, although I was taught in a QSO with another ham operating an HTX-10 to not turn the transmit level all the way up since it results in some distortion. Receive sensitivity is good, comparable to my TS-140. Selectivity is wide and unspecified - but the rig is useful under normal 10 meter operating conditions. I do not suspect the radio would be pleasant to use under contest or other dense band conditions such as when the SFI rises again. The external workmanship is good, and the controls have a solid feel. Not having CW is a limitation, and also means it is not convenient to measure VSWR, power output or to tune an antenna! If the radio is bought with these limitations in mind, I don't think anyone will be disappointed with the value offered.

A good radio with a bad reciever Time Owned: unknown months.
I think that the radioshack HTX-10 is a great radio. It has all of the features that you could ever need. Mine doesn't even have FM hang problems. The power output is somewhere near 50 watts (I had the wrong slug in my wattmeter). The only thing that radioshack could have done was bring up the deviation on FM and allow you to bring up the RF gain higher than they allow you to. other than those two little minor problems, The HTX-10 is a really great radio for hams young and old.

I agree, great radio for the price Time Owned: unknown months.
Hey folks, I work at Radio Shack. And I agree with the reviews given here about the htx 10.
I have had many hams in the Lubbock, Tx area asking about the radio. I am glad to hear other operators haveing trouble with the "hang" on fm. I thought maybe my mic was faulty. Great to hear about the solve to that little problem.
I have recieved continus complements about the audio on the fm side, and the ssb as well.
Not because I work at RS, but yes, I think the company has a great radio to offer the amateur public.
