Review Summary For : MinuteMan 20
Reviews: 3MSRP: 130
Description:
The MinuteMan 20 operates on 20-17-15-12-10 Meters without a tuner (in most cases). On 15, 12, and 10 Meters it's a full 1/4-wavelength long. For 20 and 17 Meters, a small bit of High Efficiency loading coil is added. It fits in any standard briefcase, backpack or airplane carry-on. It is designed to be rugged, lightweight (about 5 lbs.), field serviceable, and quick set-up antenna.

Performance trumps simplicity Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have owned this antenna for years and never really go to know it until I purchased my first new all-band rig a few months ago. I had tried an end fed but got the Minuteman out. 10 meters was finally open, and my first contact, running over 700 watts, gave me the same signal report as I had on him. I was running 80 watts for all my calls. A later contact later also reported a 5-9, but he was weak and I never got his call or location. The antenna is on a PVC pipe stand with the top of the antenna just above 10 feet from the ground.

Works Good Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I've had this antenna for about a month and have been using it daily. The design is clever, it sets up and takes down easily without tools, it's durable, and it works great. I use it primarily on 20 meters with low power and can work just about anyone I can hear. For example, worked SM5CAK from here (San Diego) this morning with 20 watts CW and the Minuteman 20. It also loads up using a tuner on 30 and 40 meters.

Great Antenna Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Looks like it could not work and PVC pipe makes it look mickey mouse. But it goes together quickly and the basic coil and parts are top notch. Best of all it works and has a low swr if the tap is placed on the coil as suggested. Sometimes the DX contacts I make while outside using my FT897 under battery power surprise me. Buy one if you want a quick set up portable antenna.
