Great attic antenna			Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Earlier review detailed the antenna itself quite well. Mine is an attic installation hanging from fishing line in a 2 story townhouse. One feed line for 10-40 using a Yaesu AT757 tuner. It works much better than any other "indoor" antenna I've tried, tuning is easily repeatable and it has surprising gain for an 8 ft installation. Beautifully engineered, highly recommended... Scott

Best All Band 8 foot Dipole!			Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Here it is in a nutshell. I have used the vertical configuration for >15 years now known as a Christmas Tree,and I now own a seperate and complete dipole arrangement. An 8 foot Dipole/Vertical, not 32' or some other unrealistic portable length. All bands.... not just one band, * Low wind resistance... coils are long and thin. Instant band switching/ one coax with coiled coax balun 250 watts PEP, broad band low SWR, use it as a single band or put all resonators on it and just switch bands and transmit. One resonator on very end, up to 3 around the center at 45 deg and another colar attached for 3 more, 4 inches in from the end. Dipole for balanced operation and directivity or....use it as a vertical on a non conducting MFJ push up 30 foot pole...either way its great. An 8 foot dipole end loaded with various wound cores tuned via a ferrite core on a numbered scale. Thats right, no stupid stingers to tune. 8 feet breaks down into 2- 4 foot aluminum poles and the dual resonators for each band, and no ground radials to worry about...its balanced in horizontal or vertical configuration. It is directive all the way up to 40 meters with at least a 2 S unit difference broadside vs 90 deg out. Of course 75 SWR is sharp and the coils are larger but who cares. * No it is not a dummy load...it really gets out. * You can of course can use an auto antenna tuner like the Yaesu FC20 with the FT100D, an ideal combo. I use mine with a 19AH Start it battery combo which you can get at Target with charger and indicator lights etc...a sealed marine battey. Try this combo with PSK31 and 20 watts. I can run 50 or 60 watts on SSB for a long time before charging. * Once you decide on which screw on resonators you want to use...10,12,15,17,40,75 ..once attached just adjust the ferrite ring and your set, with or without a tuner. Set it for the middle of the phone band and forget it. * Yes it is as broad banded as you would expect S9 plus in Tokyo and Russia on 20 meters broadside and S1 90 deg out. * It's maybe 1 or 2 S units down from a G5RV but who cares....its portable and can be set up on a balcony with a PVC pole and 2 good Tie Wraps. * Here is a kicker for you... it loads up on 6 meters as well as 10 meters without resonators. I call this a good value. The resonators are mostly as slim as your pinky and anywhere from 1 foot to 2.5' long with an adjustable ferrite core which slides up or down the numbered scale. * You do not need a tuner. * Use it at low altitude...10 feet off the ground or so is still OK. You can put the 2- 4 foot shafts in a fishing rod carrier along with the coils...take it on a plane, they think their ski poles or fish poles, never any questions. Resonators are all WX plastic sealed of course...and just screw on the pole when needed just set each set of resonators at the same index number on the coil so they balance out of course. Some of you may have heard that Fred the owner, a very nice and helpful ham passed away I believe 2/02 but..... there is another person ramping up the operation now, I have delt with - Bill Lashlee [wl92880@yahoo.com]. This design is a truely portable with maximum versatility.... Get an extra 4 foot mast and configure as a vertical for the car, perhaps the stainless steel version. Here is an idea I thought of .... Put a swivel mounting on a MFJ non conductive extentable...pole, then in a hotel room just push the pole straight out of the window and with a fishline on one end swivel/steer the dipole or twist the pole and make it a vertical away from the building, wiring metal windows/rails etc. Its big enought to kick ass and efficiently get out but small enough to handle easily
