Wonderful Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Just bought the rig today to replace my aging Alinco DR-130T. The difference is night and day. No more intermod! Sound quality on RX and TX is very good, just wish for my install the speaker was on top.

Best Yaesu 2m mobile Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Right now this is the best Yaesu 2M mobile. The audio problem I haven't experienced, mine sounds good, clear and punchy. These dissipate the heat really well compared to the new 1802 12V mobile BBQ lol. If your looking for a heavy duty long lasting 2m mobile that can take a beating like the know code VS no code debate this is the radio for you!!! I own 2 of these and will not part with them till Yaesu makes a better rig or I'm 6 feet under.

A steal at $107.10 Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Very easy to program
Large display
Smooth controls
High power
A steal at $107.10 from Gigaparts! I bought two of them. Clone function works great!

I have no connection to Gigaparts...they just have the best price on this unit right now.

Solid Performance Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Had this in the car and for base use.
I programmed all the memories with local channels and repeaters + tones and just use the memory channels in the car which makes it ideal.

Its sensitive, doesn't suffer cross mod and with that industrial strength heat sink it delivers the power without having to worry about heat dissipation.

I especially like the big display and control knobs which makes it easy to use.
If you need a 2M only rig this is the one to get, well done to all at Yaesu this is a real keeper!

great radio with a but Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I owned almost 2 year. It's simple and rugged but after 1 year the rubber part between mic and cable becomes britle and fell off. This never happened with the other brand.

one of the best mobile rigs. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I own a kenwood tm-271a which is a pain to program and operate, only has two power settings(25 and 60 watts)but has the best transmit audio.I also have an icom v-8000 which has very good transmit audio and fairly easy to navigate.the recieve is very sensitive but gets bad itermod from the paging towers 1.5 miles away. Now the ft-2800 gets absolutley NO intermod and is very sensitive, has a squelch knob unlike the kenwood that you have to hit buttons.the radio is the most rugged i have ever seen and it doesnt get hot.so many big fins for a heat sink.I love the 2800 BUT the transmit audio is high pitched and literally no bass but clear treble audio. This is not a real problem with me or the people i speak to,they just say"I SEE YOUR ON THE YAESU TODAY"...I would say the yaesu is the best of the three followed by the kenwood which has the best audio of the three and the kenwood hand mic is top notch, then in third comes the icom which has nice xmit audio but the reciever is questionable as is the noisy fan,the icom does run cool though.I hope this helps some fellow hams make a right decision. If you have any question about theese or other radios email me at k2vi@cox.net.best regards.

Great radio Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The radio was for the little i had it. I never had a problem with it. I sold it at a hamfest and got a FT-7800R. Great radio for new hams.

Transmit Audio Awful Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I bought my Yaesu FT-2800 New. Programming is easy. Recieve Audio is Great.
Now for the BAD NEWS the Transmit Audio is distorted, some say it sounds like compression is on, which this radio doesn"t have.
I"ve also been told the Radio sounds like its off frequency. I"ve tried changing the Mic Settings from Wide to Narrow, no change.
The Off Set in the Menu is correct. I had a friend Record the Transmission of the Radio, & I can truthfully say this is the worst Audio of any radio I"ve ever heard.
The Last Yaesu I had was an FT-100, you guessed it a terrible radio as well. Don"t know why Yaesu is letting these Radios out the factory door like this. You would think a company like Yaesu would take pride in what they sell. Sounds like MFJ Stuff! I see why the price has dropped to $119,their junk! I"m frustrated with a Brand New Radio out of the Box that doesn"t work.
NO EXCUSE!!
I will stick with Icom Products from now on.

Our choice for Shelter Radios Time Owned: more than 12 months.
We chose the FT2200M as the standard shelter radio for our ARES organization. We looked for a radio that was rugged, compact and affordable and chose this unit.

We are equipping our five voluntary ARC shelters with these radios, Astron power supplies, 35AH AGM batteries and chargers and Arrow J-Pole antennas.

All radios will be preprogrammed with our standard repeater pairs and simplex frequencies.
