Outstanding Service Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
When my FT-1000D was bit by lightning, I was reluctant to send it to the obvious place because I had seen some bad reviews. I was afraid that it would fix the most obvious problem--if it could find it--and let me find the rest.

A friend suggested that I try Randy.

Randy the Relentless tracked down all 25 problems the first pass. The rig works better than it did when it was new. And the charges were so low that I feel guilty having underpaid for value received. (Don't tell Randy!)

Randy got me back on the air. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
WHO KNEW? Randy did. He made me try one simple change in the physical arrangement of my station and I was back on the air without needing any equipment repairs. Let's see the other guys do that!!

Randy's the Man! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Signal/One made a custom version of the Icom IC-781 transceiver a number of years back and there is no longer any factory support. I have referred two of my friends with these radios to "Radio Randy" for power supply repairs and updates as he is known as "The 781 Guru." In both cases he repaired and went through the radios and brought them up to better-than-new performance to the complete satisfaction of the owners. Randy is a very smart and no-nonsense kind of guy, and one can absolutely, positively have complete confidence in his repair services! Thanks Randy!

Great Service! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Earlier this year my Kenwood TS-2000 stopped transmitting at full power. After looking at the obvious with the covers off I contacted Randy at his shop to ask for help. We both had the service manual which helped to locate the various test points for DVM and scope measurements. We spent a great deal of time on the phone and on the air reviewing my findings. His insight and electronics knowledge is vast and he had no problem returning my calls or spending the time with me to try and locate the problem.

I finally had to send the rig to his shop as I could not find what was causing the radio to not transmit properly. Randy called in the pickup to UPS, I simply packed the rig and handed the box over to the UPS driver.

After receiving my rig Randy started going over everything on his bench and found the problem. He went ahead and made the fix, contacted me by phone to get on the air so I could hear my radio. It sounded great. He shipped it back to me via UPS ground, I received it in working order and has been on the air daily since this event.

Repair of Icom IC-781 Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have a used Icom IC-781 transceiver. It had a few quirky problems so I brought it to Randy at Custom Sound and Video in Phoenix. I don't think the factory could do a better job of getting my transceiver back to working perfectly!
I am very pleased with the results.
Two years ago, Randy did a mod on a Kenwood TS-950SDX receiver section and the overload on 80 and 160 meters is virtually gone!
Hey! Thanks Randy.

EXCELLENT SERVICE Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Have an Icom 781 that got struck by lightning recently and lost the CIV data line. Randy was able to diagnose the problem and replace two transistors on the logic A-board.

In the past,he has also at my request made some mods to my IC 781 replacing the signal diodes with pin diodes on the RF/Mixer board for improved receiver performance.

Have found Randy to be very knowledgable about ham gear and has been very helpful to me others on technical issues with rigs, amps, audio etc.
His turn-around time and personal phone notification of work done and shipping info is very good !!

Have recommended Randy's service to others for years who also have had a good experience.
No doubt that I will continue sending my equipment to Randy for service.
As far as I am concerned, your in "Good Hands with KK7TV Communications". Thanks again Randy !!

SUPER GREAT SERVICE!! Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
The only reason I'm giving this guy a 5 is because 10 is not available.
First of all, after years of searching, my dad was having problems finding someone to fix his Alinco DX-70. After a slew of golden screwdrivers, he sent it to me in California to find someone. I ended up giving it to one golden screwdriver tech who complained becaused the print was not in color. He had it for 3 weeks and finally gave it back to me unfixed and charged me 45 dollars for research. I found Randy's company on the internet called him and told him the problem. The conversation lasted about 3 minutes, and Randy ended it by saying "send it I can fix it". Needless to say, within the week, Randy had it fixed and was nice enough to ship to back to my dad.
More recently Randy fixed a dual band Yaesu FT-8000 for me in no time flat. It's wonderful to know there's someone out there you can count on to repair ham equipment and not charge you an arm and a leg.
Another thing, Randy will make a personal call to you when the job is complete and tell you what the problem was and will answer all your questions.
I would highly reccommend this company to anyone. Thanks Randy.

A Ham's Ham Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I had a 5 year old Kenwood TS-870s that developed a problem about a week ago on the 30 and 20 meter bands only. During the 1st hour of operation, all SSB/CW signals were extremely distorted. After an hour of warmup the 870 worked perfectly.
Having mentioned this on Saturday morning during a casual roundtable on 14.178mHz, Randy - KK7TV, asked me a few questions and diagnosed the problem. I told Randy I had the Service Manual for the TS-870 and that I've done repair work on older rigs before, but I was reluctant to work on tiny SMT parts. In the true Amateur spirit of old, Randy instructed me to open up the rig, expose the PLL board and reheat the connections on the resistor packs CP500 & CP501 associated with IC500, the direct digital synthesis chip, DDS1. He offered help on the telephone if I got into trouble.
After doing the procedure and re-assembling the 870 yesterday afternoon the rig came back to life sounding fine. So far, so good. This morning I fired up the 870 on 20 meters and it was fine!
This isn't the 1st time Randy has offered technical help to me. I would not hesitate to send to him my equipment which I wasn't able to repair myself. The man has integrity, knows his stuff and can be trusted. You have a 5 in my book OM!

Thank you Randy!
