Review Summary For : AmpKeyer Interface

Description:
Use your new rig to key an old linear amplifier. Many older linear amps require a higher contact voltage and current rating to key an amp than is built into the newer rigs. This device solves that problem.

Works exacely as advertised Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
After being absent from ham radio for about 22 years, I am again fired up about the hobby. I purchased a new Yeasu 1000MP Field and wanted to use it with my SB-221 (stored in the closet all these years). After reading much conflicting information about interfacing the two units, I purchased the AmkKeyer. It worked exactly as advertised with no problems setting it up. I am very pleased with the AmpKeyer.

Works as advertised! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I ordered the AmpKeyer to use with an Orion
and an older amplifier and switching
arrangment at -40VDC. I plugged in power
and keying, and ran a line to the amplifier.

The AmpKeyer worked perfectly the first time
and solved the problem I needed to solve.
I didn't have time to build something and
this little box did just what I needed!

Supurb !! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I purchased the AmpKeyer for use with my Ten-Tec Jupiter and Henry 2KD Classic amplifier. I had built an interface using a reed relay and diode to protect the 12 volt 200 ma keying transistor (surface mount) in the Jupiter (the Henry relay can draw up to 250 ma)... but then I saw this device advertised. It's really much better and even safer... I love the idea of the optical interface for keying ! I popped the cover when it arrived and the workmanship is first rate. The board is top quality, the components first choice and the darn design is so clever and well thought out I was really impressed. With the choice of MOSFET, relay, pos or neg keying and even grid block what rig/amp combination won't this work with ? The small cabinet is powder coated and the screening is excellent. Much better quality then one would expect for ~$40. In function it works perfectly... and silently using the MOSFET keying system (you can move a jumper inside to disable the relay system thus no noise). Way to go Mike !!

Excellent Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Before buying this interface, I was having the usual problem keying my SB200 with my IC 751A. The amp keyer works exactly as advertised and I haven't had one minutes trouble with it. I chose the amp keyer over installing the Harbach "soft key" mod. because the ampkeyer also gives me a standby switch. It looks great, it's small, and it's very well constructed. I can honestly recommend this little device to anyone who is concerned about using an older amp with newer radios.

Amazing! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This little gem is all you will ever need to key probably any amp with any rig. Select either solid state or relay switching. Powers up with a wall wart ac or dc. The built in "Stand-by" switch solves problems with older amps that do not have one built in. LED's keep you informed. This gadget should have been invented years ago. One accessory you will never get rid of.
