When the sub-receiver of my aging FT-1000MP began to fail, it put a severe crimp in my DXing efforts. When I noticed that I was giving 5x3 reports to stations that insisted I was 5x9, it became obvious that it wasn't just band conditions that were effecting what I was hearing.

I did a Google-based search for repair options, and the eHam.Net listing for EES showed universal praise for this fellow in TN. The comments were right inline with what I was looking for - integrity and technical ability.

I contacted Byron by Email, as his website suggested. We exchanged notes, then talked on the telephone.

Byron's time and cost estimates were right-on, and his tuning and alignment procedures make my radio sound better than ever - at least since I've owned it - HI.

This is the best value in radio. An upgrade to performance without buying a new radio. EES is a top service firm, and Byron is the key to their service delivery.

FT-900, dead rf pre-amp Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I read about Byron here on eHam & decided to try him. I am glad I did. Byron is very friendly on the phone & knowledgeable. I think it's good that he doesn't try to fix every brand out there. He sticks with what he knows well.

My Yaesu FT-900 had a dead rf pre-amp. Byron had it repaired & back to me in about 3 weeks "door to door". He repaired the radio & touched up the alignment, and I am very happy with the results. Very professional

I would like to recommend Byron's Electronic Equipment Servicing to every ham I know! He just repaired an old Yaesu FT-101EX transceiver for me and Wow! It works great, he found things wrong I over looked. I know good service, because I was in the service business for 35 years myself, I have had strokes and no longer can do what I once did, and he is the real thing! His service and specifics to detail is second to none. This is the only equipment I have ever had to send off for repairs, but let me tell you, he does it right the first time and his pricing is right on the mark for the quality of service you receive. FANTASTIC! Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I have a Yaesu FT-900 (removable face) which developed a problem in the face of the radio that had to do with the audio at high levels causing the transmit to drop out. Byron checked it out and repaired it. It was a very small IC chip the size of the end of a 1/8" drill bit! I am very satisfied with the work done, and while Byron was in the radio, he went ahead and replaced the memory battery. I would recommend him to anyone! I have personally seen his shop and it is one of the finest equiped shops anywhere. And his intellegence is the best, period!

Yaesu FT-747GX Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Well, for all of you who said never to buy a radio of Ebay... go ahead and give me the "I told you so!."

Bought the Yaesu off of Ebay and the final amplifier section was the subject of a poor repair job. Byron repaired and returned the old FT-747 to operating status and it works great.

Very fair and honest work.

I recently sent my FT-1000MP MKV to Byron for repair, after discovering I had a RX sensitivity problem. I had spoken to Yaesu’s repair facility in California and was informed that their turn around time was 4-6 weeks, which has always proved to three months Yaesu time!

Within two weeks my rig was repaired, aligned, and had two INRAD modifications installed. My beloved FT-1000MP MKV was returned to me cleaner than it had been before I sent it in for service, and the cost associated with doing all this work was VERY REASONABLE!

Byron’s is a very personable person to speak with over the phone, and instills a sense of trust in him and his service from the start. After speaking with him about my transceiver’s problem and other ham related topic’s I felt very secure sending my rig to his repair shop.

The documentation Byron sent describing the repairs that had been done was second to none, furthermore Byron had emailed me prior to the shipment to inform me exactly what the problem was. His estimates on repair and parts where dead on, no surprises, how refreshing! For now on, all of my service will be completed by Byron.

ft-900 Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I had problems with the VCO being out from 14.500 to 21.500. Had it in another shop twice over a period of about two months and came back the same each time. Shipped it to Byron and radio was gone about two weeks. Radio as good as new! He explained in detail what he found and how he repaired it. He will get all my repair work in the future. He responds to your e-mails and questions promptly.

I have used Byron's services on an FT-1000MP and an FT-1000MP Mark-V. He has done both repairs and modifications to the radios. All were neatly & cleanly done, checked out before return, and completed in a reasonable time frame (remember than all repair facilites are dependent on factory parts order response times). His rates are fair, workmanship is first-class, and I would highly recommend his services to anyone.
