I had my Yaesu FT-1000-MP into Vertec Standard a few years ago and they repaired it but I had to send it back and it still was not right.
So recently I decided to look around for somebody to do the repair properly and found Byron, WA4GEG.
This guy does what he says and in the time frame he states he will do it in. He replaced the parts needed, implemented all mods and did a bang up jog. I HIGHLY recommend him and will have him do work for me again if needed.

I read about Byron here on eHam & decided to try him. I am so glad I did. Byron is very friendly and knowledgeable. I think it's good that he doesn't try to fix every brand out there. He sticks with Yaesu high end radios which he knows well.

My Yaesu FT-1000MP MKV had a dead cooling fan. Byron had it repaired & back to me in about 3 weeks "door to door". He repaired the radio & touched up the alignment, and I am very happy with the results. He is Very professional and I'm extremely satisfied with the services rendered by Byron. I have both an FT-1000MP Mark V as well as the Field version, both of which Byron has worked on. The Mark V has needed the most in terms of "whipping back into shape", and Byron has done a superb job in all cases. I have not run across anyone who knows these radios as well as he does, and it comes through, even when it just doesn't sound quite right. To give an example, both my radios suffer from the display not coming up right away when the radio is turned on. I thought is was strictly a florescent lamp issue, but Byron explained, after the lamps and inverters on both units were replaced, that the issue is actually one of initializing of the liquid crystals in the display, and that for whatever reason, it can take as long as 45 seconds for the display to come on. I took both boxes apart to watch what was going on, and sure enough, the lamps and inverters do exactly what they are supposed to do, and the display is indeed opaque until the liquid crystals are initialized. By the way, for those of you who, like myself, deal with this idiosyncrasy, I've noticed that it is related more to humidity issues than anything else. My shack is in the basement, and except for the most dry of winter days, I cannot get the relative humidity below about 40%. With the radios sitting in the basement, when the humidity is high (above 50%), it has taken as long as 45 seconds for the display to come up, but when the humidity is low, or I keep them upstairs for extended periods of time, the display issue resolves itself. Byron was the one who made note of this.

That is simply one example of many whereby Byron has demonstrated his expertise. Byron is fair, responsive, and most importantly with respect to working with me, patient. You are not going to get a better deal with repsect to what he charges and get the same quality of work. When you communicate with Byron, he always gets back to you; it won't be instantaneous, but he will get back to you. And in terms of patience, he is unbelievable, and I know I can be a nuisance where questions are concerned. Byron has always taken the time to explain what he was doing till I was satisfied, and that si saying quite a bit.

To sum up, the only person, other than myself, I trust to open up my 1000MP series radios is Byron. I think you will come away feeling the same way. If anyone wants more information, please feel free to e-mail me, I'm only too happy to recommend Byron and tell more of my experience!

Great FT-1000MP MKV Field Service Time Owned: more than 12 months.
After a couple of years my faithful MP Field lost power on 10/12 and 20M. Sent it down to Byron for repair. What can I say A+++, the rig came back repaired 100%, and fully aligned ! Communication with Byron was great and the repair was performed in a timely manner. I would highly recommend Byron for Yaesu repairs.

Byron has done work for me in tha past, and was outstanding, my Yaesu -990 need,s some work , and was told by Byron he no longer work,s on the 990,s Sorry to see this happen. n4joh/John

Just as other reviewer's have commented, Byron
is hard to beat,both in terms of expertise as well
as customer relations. My past experiences with
his services rendered have been nothing less than
outstanding. If your Yaesu is "ailing" you will
not go wrong in calling upon EES/WA4GEG.

Byron repaired my ft-100mp mkV tx problem . His repair price was very fair. The radio now works better than new ! His invoice was very detailed on work that was performed .

Byron is one of the most thorough and dedicated people I know in getting your rig back to you completely repaired and checked out in other possible areas of concern. Repairs the rig and figures out what other things may have contributed to the failure. Good email updates, reasonable time of repair and extremely fair pricing for what all he does. I am a satisfied Yaesu customer of Byron's EES in Tennessee.
