Sangean ATS-505 Rebadge Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Bought it in 2002 when it was being phased out.

Great unit for the money.

SSB receive, but no USB or LSB uses BFO to receive.

Local FM above average. Receives fringe signals nicely.

Using rechargeable batteries, it drains them fast. Need high quality alkalines. Cheap AC adapters will cause a bad DC tone to be in the AM receive audio.

Worst part is the display. Hard to read. Back light is terrible. Mine always washed out the information on the display.

I have put it through rough rides. The stand broke off years ago. The battery door is loose. It is finally showing its age. The audio gets "choppy and lacks bass" unless it gets a good whack on the front or back. Then sounds normal.

Not too impressed with the latest flood of Chinese SW receivers flooding the market. Probably replacing this with an old but true Sangean ATS-505!

Good for the price I paid. Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
This is a decent little receiver that I picked up as a floor model for $39.99 USD. It has a mini plug for an external antenna and a built in telescoper. Covers 100-29.999MHz. The only "problem" is that it doesn't separate USB from LSB, you have to tune it manually.
