A270-10S is a good antenna for weak singals Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
i've used this antenna for 12 weeks now and a vx-2r yaesu handheld with 1.5 watts and at 50 feet in the air and from maryland to delaware. if your into weak singal work this would be a good antenna to have.

Decent performance Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I had one of these dualband antennas for a little while as a rover antenna. Fairly easy to assemble, and seemed well made. Took it to the top of the mountain in the 2002 Jan. VHF contest. It did OK, but not quite as well as I expected for its heighth. It is a good way to get on both bands, would definitely beat loops or a vertical for weak signal work, and would make a nice satellite antenna also.

What more can you ask Time Owned: more than 12 months.
After getting back into vhf/uhf weak sig after a couple of years I purchased one of these antennas to get my feet wet again so to speak. The results were great I was able to work ssb stations in NY and WV from northern Mi using the ducting on Lake Huron just about everyday. I later purchased some of the so called top shelf yagi's only to find the improvement in signal for what I did was nil. This antenna survived several severe thunderstorms with 70 MPH winds with no problems. To be honest sometimes it better to avoid the ad hype and purchase the less spoken about items, save big bux and walk circles around the other guys.

Great Antenna Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I've had mine up for 3 1/2 years and works flawlessly. I have it on a short pole on a 3 ft tripod on top of my garage with a Radio Shack rotor and just under the beam I have a 3 element Cushcraft 6 meter beam and no problems with that beam also and it's flat side and the A270-10s is vertical. For being a small beam and a fantastic beam the price is also fantastic, $100.00.

If this is what you are looking for then buy one.

Works Great! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I just installed this antenna a week and a half ago, and I'm impressed. At 40 feet above ground and with 100 Watts, I am able to work stations more than 120 miles away, even with unfavorable terrain (2-meter sideband). This may not sound particularly impressive, but I am getting S7 to S9 reports, which to me means that I'll be able to work stations even farther away under good conditions.
I took note of the instructions and some of the posts here that reminded the user to install the antenna away from others on the same mast/rotator. Mine is ten feet above my 6-meter beam, and there's no apparent interaction.
Overall, relatively easy to build and install, and plays quite well. The best $99 spent so far in my ham radio career. Installing this antenna was a very rewarding antenna project. I really enjoy using it.

Good Antenna At A Good Price Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I've used this antenna for a little over a year on top of a 30 foot tower and it performs nicely. It assembled easily and is very compact. For the price, it's a really good antenna. I may get another one eventually and mount it horizontally for SSB.

Very good antenna ..I recommend Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have mounted this antenna horizontally.I took less than a hour to assembly it.It was very easy.. the manual is full of details and useful informations. SWR is fine and I connected the antenna at my FT-857D and tuned 145.800 to hear ARISS. I was perfect. I got good signal reports with this antenna and I worked few stations 500 kms away from me easy just with 50 watts on 2 meters.
Good RX for satellites if properly mounted.I rate this antenna : 5

Works great for its size Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have never mounted this antenna vertical, but mounted horizontal if works great for 2 meter and 70 centimeter sideband. It is only 35 feet above ground and I have worked stations 150 to 200 miles.

Good but sensitive to other antennas Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have used this antenna for more than two years now. I initially installed it alone on a mast atop a 25" tower (vertically polarized) with good success. It is well constructed and has withstood wind and ice storms with no ill effects.

Just recently I installed a Cushcraft R5 on top of the mast and positioned the A27010S 5 feet below the R5 having read how sensitive the R5 is to nearby metal objects. Result: The R5 tuned up fine but the SWR on the A27010S was WAY over 3:1. I had to drop the A27010S down another 3 feet, off the mast and bolted to the side of the tower before the SWR would come down to the levels I had earlier enjoyed.

The bottom line: I would recommend this model if you want one with a low profile (it does look like a TV antenna) unless you need one that can be mounted on a mast near other antennas.

Quality antenna Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I give this antenna a perfect note.Assembly was easy with a clear well-writen manual. Many extra bots and nuts ; very useful when one of those loosy thing fall in the grass...Nice performance also ; SWR flat across both bands and the end-mount before the reflector element keeps the interaction of the mast minimal.Every part seems well machined and clean. All the hardware is stainless steel.I dont have any connection with Cushcraft but i keep getting excellent products from them.Maybe i am lucky ? Even the online support where helpful...If you need a serious dual band antenna for FM or SSB , this is the deal !
