Fix my lightning ravahed R70 PLEASE! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
My ICOM R70 was the very first great radio I was able to afford. We're talking quite a few years back. I was real disappointed when lightning took out the front end. I probably paid what the radio was worth to get it fixed but then Hams do that if a radio has sentimental value. ICOM folks fixed the shortwave section, replaced my S meter lamp and checked it over for around 200 bucks. The receipt indicated they spent a considerable amount of time caring for this great receiver. It's like new. It's like starting over. I love my R70 and I am so far a big fan of the folks at ICOM in Washington state. Thanks again ICOM!

Talk about IMPRESSED. I was a Director of Customer Service for a now Northrup Gruman Company. My crew kicked butt to make sure we always had happy customers. The folks at ICOM Tech Support and Parts are equal to that very task. When you talk to these folks you get a first and LAST name. There's no hestitation, no spin, no guesses. You get someone that cares about your problem. You get someone to work with you to get the information you need. I called about the power switch on my PS125 supply sticking in the on position. I asked if parts were available. Mike Hilton checked it out and later emailed me with a part number. I was busy managing a retail store and could not wait on the line. The next day I called the Parts folks and had my part ordered using the info in Mike's message. It took just minutes. GREAT SERVICE. MY KIND OF SERVICE! Thanks ICOM!

Poor Service-Overpriced Time Owned: N.A.
They gave me a 380 dollar bid to fix a filter on a 706 with low power output.Thats ridiculous! And on top of that, it took them almost 3 weeks to call me up with an estimate.I live 10 miles away too.I didn't feel as if they were working with me.I cant give them a thumbs up whatsoever. Then I had to pay a diagnostic fee, and i already told them what to repair from the beginning. After i told them what i thought of there service, they waived the diagnostic fee's ONLY if i buy a new 7000.

Quick Turn Around Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I sent my IC-7800 in for a roofing filter upgrade. The service was very professional and I am quite pleased with the care taken with my rig.

For those with the original series IC-7800, I highly suggest the upgrade. I fould it well worth the cost, and the turn-around time was just a few days.

Service as you would like it! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Belated comments on service from ICOM. Local dealer could not find a persistent problem with my Pro 2 after leaving it with them 3 times. Their approach is to set rigs on a table and "see what happens". Each time they claimed "no problem found". Last time they suggested the problem was "me". Off to ICOM under warranty. Complicated repair, lightning fast turn-a-round with notification of problem and method of repair. I sure didn't mind paying $30 shipping to get this wonderful radio back and out of the clutches of the local dealer.

Outstanding service Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I recently upgraded my radio (IC-718) to a IC-746PRO. (Great radio that I will submit a seperate review on.) I noticed a slight drag on the tuning knob, and tried to adjust it with the operator provided tensioning screw. I only made it worse. I contacted ICOM through email, and had an immediate response with some suggestions, but also a note that if they did not work, to send it in. I tried the suggestions, and they did help, but it still had the slight drag. I finally stripped out the head of the tensioning screw messing with it. I shipped it to ICOM hoping the warranty would pay for at least part of the repair. They returned it to me within 3 weeks, replaced the parts (including the tensioning screw) at no charge and free shipping. Tuning knob works great now. ICOM stands behind their customers, thier product, and their warranty!

Solid Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I sent a 756Pro2 in for repair. A static discharge to the receive section blew a bunch of surface mount components. Turn around time was three weeks. Cost of the repair including shipping was $100. Rig works as new.

Greate service Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Had the opportunity to use Icom Service in Bellevue, Washington. Sent my radio to them on 8/11/06 and received it back today, 08/25/06 working as new. Turnaround time was great and cost to me was zero. They are working very hard to support their produce. Thank you Icom.

Good experiences... Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I had an Icom commercial radio that I screwed up by interrupting a computer programming send/receive session. Every subsequent attempt to clone resulted in an error message. I thought I had somehow fried the radio. Knowing I'd probably be out around $100 to get this fixed, I thought I'd give Icom a call to see if they had any "home remedies" that could cure my radio's ailments.

I called to Icom technical support. I was told normally people were required to send their radio in for service for this type of problem. Then Dolly at Technical support walked me through the problem to fix it over the phone. The software fix was rather complicated, taking about a half hour from start to finish, but it did the trick and saved me postage and a repair bill.

Icom's repair department actually gives hams the time of day, which is more than I can say for some other manufacturers. Having service like this makes me feel better about purchasing Icom equipment, knowing I won't be hung out to dry if something goes wrong.

Great Service Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I was vacationing in So. Calif., my TH-F6 ht was not transmitting on 2 and 440. Noah fixed it and aligned the ht for $75.00. It's worth it with all I've spent on accessories. Great Service at Western Icom service center!

good work Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Icom America repair has done a solid job for me on 2 occasions. First with an HT, the second time was warrenty work on my 706. In both cases the turn around time was 2 weeks or less. The cost (for the non-warrenty work) was reasonable and the problem I was having was solved. What more can be expected. I've tried some others for different things and they either make excuses, lie, or take too long. If its an Icom product I'll go there first.
