"FANTASTIC" {:>) Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have delt with ICOM service & tech support TWICE.First time was with IC-746 display light issue. After talking with tech support I ordered the surface mounted part needed for repair & when it arrived I was talked through the repair on the phone by tech support so that in about an hour the rig was repaired by a friend & myself & back on the air.Second time was a receiver preamp in my 756PROII.I called Icom tech support & was told to ship the rig for repair though warranty had expired about a week earlier. The rig was repaired for "FREE" other than shipping & insurance cost & back in my shack in less than two weeks from date of leaving my home. That is A+ service BOTH times no matter what anyone says!THANKS again ICOM for building the BEST ham gear & the top notch A-1 service & tech support of ANYONE! Some folks are NEVER happy no matter what you do for them!NOTHING but ICOM's for me "EVER" when I buy again.

Good, fast turnaround Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I sent my Icom 7000 to Bellevue, WA to replace the finals because the radio stopped transmitting at full power.

1 week from NJ to WA via UPS, 1 week in the shop, 1 week back to NJ via fedex.

Decent turnaround. My radio was also well packed and shrink wrapped. No physical damage to the radio during shipment or during repair.

Can't comment on the repair job other than it works back to spec. Also, can't comment on the cost either since it was warranty repair.

But overall a good experience.

FWIW, they do send you emails when the radio arrives, when it is repaired and when it ships out. You get the tracking number so youcan make sure your radio makes its way back to you.

I have another out of warranty radio (a 746) I want to send to them. I'll review the repair service if/when I send that radio in.

Icom IC-Delta1a repair summary Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The price could have been less- all they had to do was pull the battery off, hold one button in, and reconnect the battery to reset the CPU. But they were very quick (about three weeks) on repair and turn-around time. They also sent me the instructions so I can do it again myself if it ever fails again! How's THAT for customer service??? In these days where everyone charges $65+ to put a radio on the bench before pushing the power switch, their $50 (including return shipping) charge was very fair. I've had experience with Icom in the past where they totally replaced a non-working new Icom IC-735 after the local dealer gave me the run-around on repairing it for almost two years! Icom is a first-rate company in my book! -KR4WM

Consistently Stellar Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Every experience I have had with Icom repair has been stellar.

I once called because I was missing some knobs and buttons on 2 HF rigs, a windscreen on a mic, and needed to replace the bottom plate on a IC-2AT. The tech took my address down without transferring me to anyone else, and three days later all those items arrived UPS at no charge.

A few years later, the finals went south on my IC-730. The tech asked if I really wanted then replaced, as it would run what the radio was going for used in some markets. I said "Yes, I like the receiver" and the tech started chatting admiringly about the quadruple conversion receiver in the rig and then gave me the shipping info.

One short week later, the rig came back to me, with not only new finals, but new drivers as well, AND an upgraded replacement T/R relay, upgrading of a few other discrete components, and even new cabinet hardware! Further, it was all cleaned up and looked like new. I was charged only for the finals (parts and labor)-- the rest was gratis.

Icom has been the only one of the big three Japanese manufactures with whom I've been able to quickly get on the phone with (1) a person who speaks English well; (2) a technician. The turnaround time from repair is swift (they strive for a week, but it usually runs 7-10 days). This compares to my experiences with (1) Yaesu (no tech to talk with; person at other end not very conversant in English; turnaround time form repair was THREE MONTHS; rig developed same problem a few days after i got it back); (2) Kenwood (great difficulties getting a tech on the line; 10-week turnarond from repair).

Icom repair also assigns an Incident Number to all inquiries and repaeir returns, and updates them regularly, communicating via email with the customer regarding all developments.

All three make great radios; but I have to give Icom an "A-plus" for support and repair, almost as good as our American-based firm Ten-Tec.

Great service. Very professional Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I recently sent my 706 MKIIG to the Bellvue Wa repair site as the 432 side was out of alignment and there was the fabled '2m power spike'. While there I also asked for do any upgrades/mods that have been intro'd since I got my 706, which is a low serial number one, less than 1000. After UPS'ing the radio to them, 5 days later I got all call explaining what would need to be done and the radio itself was in good overall health otherwise. I ok'd the work and 4 days after that call, the FEDEX guy is ringing my doorbell with the radio. I have heard nightmares about ICOM service in the past. I did not have such an experience.

Super Tech Support Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I am glad to say that I have not had to have any of my Icom radios or amps repaired. However, after purchasing an Icom PW-1, I needed tech help with getting my radio in sync with the PW-1. "Kevin" in Tech Support spent 30 minutes with me on the phone! He was patient and really knew his stuff. Great tech support!

fast, competent & professional Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I recently purchased an Icom 7800 which had a power up problem. It was taking 15 to 20 minutes for the unit to power up and receive and transmit.

When this problem was reported to my dealer where the unit was purchased, Memphis Amateur Electronics, they promptly had an Icom America representative to call me.

Icom paid for the shipping to Bellvue, Washington where the service technicians were able to replicate the slow power up problem.

When Icom was unable to fix the problem within a couple of days, they agreed to ship me another in the factory box IC 7800 at their expense.

My dealings with them could not have been more pleasant.

Cudos for Tech Service Dept Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I recently fried my T2H by trying a direct DC connection to the battery terminals (stupid). The HT is a quality yet inexpensive unit. Sending it for repair would probably cost as much as or close to buying a new one.

So, instead, I took a close-up photo of the area on the circuit board showing the components affected, and sent it to ICOM Tech Services, asking that they ID the parts. They did and sent me the information in 2 days!!!

I, ordered the parts, which were all in stock, and I will attempt to repair the T2H at a very modest cost.

Successful or not with the repair, I am very impressed that ICOM took the time and effort to provide me the information I requested. I consider that superb customer service.

Thanks for reading.

Happy Time Owned: more than 12 months.
My IC756 PROII died, they turned it around in one week and the cost was very reasonable about $125.00 I forget exactly. The front end was smoked by voltage coming in on my antenna. I could not have expected better service.
