oldie but a goodie Time Owned: more than 12 months.
My very first handheld. I Thought I was king. I'd spent $100 on a scanner and no more crystals. I could even hear the neighbors cordless phone oops! I still have it but I lost the charger. so now I use batteries when i feel nostalgic

My first handheld (1980s) Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I bought mine back sometime around the mid 1980s. It was my first handheld scanner.
My pro-38 has alot of history. I took it to school with me, listened at home, listened at work. It went everywhere with me thruout the
mid to late 1980s. 10-channels isn't much, but back then, everything was in the 150-160, 450-470Mhz conventional bands in St Louis City, Mo. The school security guards used 464.900Mhz, the PD for Dist 3 was on 460.200Mhz, the Fire Dept was on 154.130Mhz. It was a differant time, differant era. I still have my old pro-38. It has exchanged hands between me and my brother 3 times over the past 20 years. And still works today. Oldie, but still old reliable

Works good for what it is. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I've had mine for 10 years with no problems at all. Audio is good and loud compared to some of todays scanners (260 mW). Hears good with the supplied rubber-duck and even better attached to an external antenna. Sometimes hear strong FM broadcast interference when listening to VHF lo-band using an outside antenna. Runs on 13.8 volts so one could wire it in directly to the car battery (no adapters or voltage regulators needed). Good to have as a backup scanner.
