GREAT PREFORMER Time Owned: more than 12 months.
For the price you can't beat this antenna. Low swr across both bands. I had mine up 75 feet in all types of weather for 5 years now and still preforms great. Joe KE9K

Bang For The Buck Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I was considering the Comet GP-9 for $180. Then I found this Workman antenna at a hamfest. I disregard most manufacturers advertised dB gain ratings. It has identical phasing: 3 elements on 2 meters and 8 elements on 70cm. At HALF the price for $90! The build quality looked good too.
During the install, I used coax seal on the joints to waterproof them. The performence on 2 meters was much better than the Cushcraft ARX-2B it replaced.

Results after 7 years Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Antenna needs maintenance, all joints should be soldered. Even the lock screw ones should be soldered also.

Otherwise performance is just as good on both bands.

Disappointed Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
This antenna was installed at a repeater site 900 feet ASL VE1PAR. Coverage on VHF was excellent, but poor on UHF as compared to a GP-9. The first wind storm the first section broke the metal nut and antenna came apart.

Not happy with this antenna in terms of performance on UHF and could not survive the first wind and snow storm it was up against.

Your better off purchasing a Comet GP-9 antenna for over all performance and strength.

Great antenna Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Great SWR great coverage, well made and saved about $80.00 over the Comet GP-9. Very happy with it.

Real happy Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I bought this antenna at the Orlando ham fest in Feb. It was easy to setup and no toning needed. I use a ICOM V-8000 has my base radio and is hooked to this antenna. I hit repeaters over a 100 miles away. Great antenna and excellent price.

Great Bang for the buck! Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I put this up to replace a Hustler G6-270R that went south. Build quality seems good, assembly wasn't too bad. SWR on both bands was good, no more than 1.7:1 at any point, 1.1:1 in the middle of the 2m band, 1.3:1 at a couple of points on 440.

As far as performance, it has out-performed the Hustler by a mile! I use the antenna with a dualbander for crossband repeat so I can get into the local repeater with my HT from my office ( I work about 1.5 miles from my QTH). Coverage with this antenna is much better. I have worked 45-50 miles vhf simplex to a mobile with only 1 watt during normal band conditions! The base of my antenna is only at 30 ft. So far I couldnt be happier.

As far as durability we will see what a Chicago winter does to it. However, About a week ago we had a severe windstorm go through. Winds were sustained 40-50 mph winds with gusts up to 60 mph reported. This went on for several hours. The antenna was definatly flexing quite a bit, but when it was all said and done the antenna is still ok and stands up straight!

For $89 from R&L you can't go wrong!

Excellent antenna Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Got mine for 50 $, second hand. Works great. Very well built, extremely solid, easy to tune. I am getting from 1.2 to 1.7 as SWR.

With 50 watts (Yaesu FT-100D)I hit solid repeaters 60-75 miles away in very mountainous area. Improved greatly my reception by reducing all kind of noises. Highly recommended. A bargain even at full price.
