This radio is worth consideration. Time Owned: unknown months.
I and a friend of mine both purchased this radio, and think its great. Granted the speaker is a bit small, but the audio for communication purposes is more than acceptable. Access to the radios features through the menu system is straight forward, and once you've been through it, you won't need the manual for most things. We have experienced no malfunctions or intermittants with the radios. The microphone's PTT switch is too easily activated. The "spring" pressure is too light and its easily bumped causing accidental transmissions. This is easily fixed by adding another firmer piece of "foam rubber" behind the PTT lever. Leave the existing piece of foam in, just cut another one so that it presses against the side of the circuit board.

Good Radio - Glad I bought it.

What a Disaster Time Owned: unknown months.
What a disaster this radio is. Being a very proud owner of both the ft 2400 and the ft 2500 (Truly Outstanding Radios). I was excited to see the debut of the new Yaesu ft 2600. Ha Ha what a joke!
Disappointment came quickly When I realized that most all of the functions including the squelch control are menu accessible only! (Great for HT's Not for Mobiles). The front mounted speaker is small, distorted, and useless. Even an external speaker does not help the audio that much. After receiving several bad reports on the transmitters extreme over deviation (Lots and Lots of background noise) and the re-occuring Poltregeist effect of randomly throwing dtmf numbers on the display while driving around, I Decided to deem this radio Junk! PLEASE Yaesu go back to the drawing board and try again......
