Wow, it works so well Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I've used a lot of programming software and this is the best. You can do so much to your HT it's very impressvive. Unfortunately I already paid for my UK HT to be soldered for the mods so can't comment on that. It would be nice if you could synchronize the date and time of the rig with your PC, as I've not yet changed it on the rig! I used a 3rd party serial cable from Germany on ebay and the CT-91 cable. I highly recommend it for anyone who has a VX-7R, 73 Craig G3RWP

Hey, I even paid! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Very, very nice software. Used it with a homebrewed interface, and very quickly and easily added memory slots for all the local repeaters in Omaha (where I live) and a couple of places I travel to regularly, got them all into memory groups, added a group for FRS, GMRS, MURS, TV and CB, and saved the whole mess so I can edit it at will.

Very slick. I wish there were similar software for my FT-817. I consider this well worth the pittance I donated to the author.

Excellent Software Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
This software is well written and makes programming the VX7-R a breeze. The only difficulty I had was getting the VX7-R to talk to my new computer that didn't have a serial connector. After a bit of research and design my good friend and I built our own TTL to USB converter. It worked so well, that in order to save everyone else the hassle of buying the serial data cable, then building or buying some adapter to get that to talk to USB we built a small production run of our cable. The cable is USB on one end and 1/8" on the other (soon to be replaced by the Yaesu connector). More information can be found at http://ttl2usb.com

A portion of all sales will go to Jim Mitchell to support his development of the Commander software.

Very Good Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Let me first say I like this program. I have the other software also and I find things easier to do. I have a question for the other users (and the author if he frequents this forum?)

The other software offers the TX frequency and "split" in the duplex field. I can't find how to do that with the commander. I see "simp, +rpt, -rpt, dup"...I assume dup is what I want, but I don't see a place for the TX freq.

Any thoughts out there.

Question About 1KHz Resolution Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Just acquired a VX-7R and just downloaded the software. Both seem excellent.

A satellite wants 436.797, the stock VX-7R doesn't know what a 1KHz step looks like, anyone know if this app can get the VX-7R there?

Thanks! & 73, doc kd4e@arrl.net

Great, great, great! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Not much else to comment about it besides what has been written in other comments here already, simply great.
I use it with an interface a DL OM makes here in Germany, if I add it all up, a fraction of what the original software and interface would cost.
Get it, try it, you´ll love it!
I did sent my config file to Jim as I have a B3 Version of the VX-7R with cell unblocked in order to have him see if this config can be used on other versions of this HT.

Good Software Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The VX Commander software worked very well. The import and export feature did not quite work the way I expected it to. There seemed to be to many features. The menus did not seem to be intuitive as they could have been. I seemed to have to do a lot of hunt and peck to find the solution for what I wanted to do. The software is good though and I would recommend it to anyone who is going to build his or her own cable or finds a manufactured cable but does not have the included software.

Once you tried it, you can't do without it. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
After only using the program one time I did not hesitate sending Jim, KC8UNJ a $30 donation and was glad to do so. I can't imagine not having this program and having to program by hand through the keypad again. I had lots of problems with the ADMS-1G software and have read from others that it seems typical, but the Commander VX7R worked flawlessly. I can't believe it's free as good as it works and with the features it has. I recommend giving a donation though. It works so well and will save you so much time and trouble that you might feel guilty if you don't.

Outstanding product! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have Jim's free software for programming the VX-7R and the VX-2R. It is simply outstanding. The ability to set MARS/CAP or Freeband from software beats solder blobs any day; the radio is unmodified, and a reset returns the rig to ham band only use (something you might want to do on a sudden impulse!).

I highly recommend the software for these two rigs. I can't imagine how to manage the memory of these radios without it. I think it is far better than any of the software from the manufacturer.

If you use this software, consider sending along a donation to the author to encourage more of the same.
