12 years and still kickin' Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Had this PS for 12 years this December.

It's been used and abused, moved countless times, dropped, kicked, and taken a beating for over a decade. It's been maxed out more than once and survived many 30 minute QSO's powering my Kenwood TS450S.

The fan was so noisy, I took it out. That's right, I completely removed the cooling fan. I did this shortly after I bought it in late 1993. No adverse effects even under full load in a hot radio room.

Other than having to replace a $10 bridge rectifier a couple of years ago, it's been great!

Not Up To Par on Three Pyramids Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I've owned three Pyramid switching power supplies during the last 9 years. All of the were 20 AMP or more supplies and the latest is the PS-26K 25 Amp supply.

Quite frankly, I am happy to see that many of you have excellent luck with them. I can't say that here. All three have died on me. The first one died three weeks after I purchased it and the shop replaced it with no questions. I had the second supply for about a year before it just died. I have not troubleshot that one although it's become a boat anchor in my shack.

The latest Pyramid has just decided to do something funky, too. It seems to fluctuate on voltage level and the meter shows it clearly and accurately. I have clipped a voltmeter in line and it is very close to the meter reading on the Pyramid. I don't trust it now, because it keeps fluctuating voltage. I don't want it to possibly fry my good gear.

Any ideas what might be causing the fluctuation in voltage?

good for the price and it's reliable Time Owned: more than 12 months.
The only reason I am giving this power supply 4 instead of a 5, is because the name imply's you`re buying a 26 amp power supply, and in reality it's a 22 amp power supply that will handle a surge to 25 amps.
The good thing is it has a quite fan, and runs my RCI 2970DX at full power which after it's tuned will draw up to 26 amps occasionally on peaks.

great power supply Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have had this power supply for about 2 months and have had no issues with it at all. The fan is very silent. I use it to power my Icom IC-725 and it has more than enough power to do the job. My friend has a 30 amp Astron and the fan on it is very noisy so I guess there are good and bad examples of each brand of anything out there. If your looking for an inexpensive power supply, I highly recommend this one. 73 Vaughn N1XV ex AB7UW

OK power supply Time Owned: more than 12 months.
As a cheaper alternative to Astron, etc., this is not bad. I got mine used, but it's done just fine for a year. The fan was noisy to be sure, but I replaced it with another cheapie 24v fan and it's much better - although you definitely hear the air. I find the meter to be right on, but I'm sure that varies widely. Build quality inside seems good, my Astron 12a doesn't seem to be any different. I also added a couple of small lamps above the meters - a cheap fix and very easy.

Nosie Fan Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Bought the PS new about 12 years ago never had a problem. I puled the max on the PS. Powered a Kenwood 751-A and a Mirage 3016 160 watt amp.
My only complaint is the fan is very nosie.

Does the job Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Bought one of these supplies in 1999 to replace a failed Radio Shack one. I was a new ham and at the time it was the best I could afford. To me the 20 amps offered flexibility if I decided to move up from VHF/UHF equipment to higher powered HF gear.

I realize it's not as well built as an Astron but it's worked well for me. It's been through two different moves, used on FD, kicked around - basically handled with less than due care, and it's still going strong. Currently it supplies power to two mobile rigs, a 2m all-mode, and an HF rig.

The only things I don't like are the inaccurate voltage meter and front-mounted power posts. Other than that I'm pretty satisfied with it. In the event it ever dies (it stays on 24/7) I'll graduate to an Astron. But until then I'll keep using it as I always have.

Buyer beware... Time Owned: more than 12 months.
My experience with these power supplies is not a good one.

Power supply shorted out when turned on the first time. Poorly soldered connection shorted out.

Rating is incorrect. Should be 15amp constant 20amp peak. I am not sure how they can claim a 25amp rating, it gets much much too hot at anything above 15amps.

Holes drilled in cabinet for alarm buzzer have no alarm behind them! The alarm is located far inside the unit.

The voltage and current controls do not work well. The current control causes oscillation rather than shutting the unit down.

When opening the unit the transformer looks like it was used prior to being installed in the power supply.

Lower grade components used throughout.

This having been said, if you are NOT using it for radio equipment or electronics it may provide you with what you need.

Good for the money Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Basically you get what you pay for, and a little more with this power supply. It has worked well for me since I had it. It has regulated adjustable voltage. Current meter, voltage meters, and cooling fan. It is also fairly quiet. The only problem I have with it is the voltage meter is terribly inaccurate. Not a big deal to me, and I paid less than $100 for it brand new.
