Better than Expected Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
On a business trip to Hawaii, I took my FT-897D, the Par 20M end fed antenna, and my miniature paddle. It all fit into a computer bag. I walked down to a park at the base of Diamond Head and through a piece of twine up into a Banyan tree.

I was amazed. With only the 20 watts of the internal-batteries on the 897, I worked JA, VK, W6s, W7s, and even an F near Paris, a distance of about 7,400 miles.

The antenna works well.

Way more than I expected! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I'll add my kudos to the list of glowing reviews. I live in a very populated area in a single-story flat roof condo which allows no antennas. I snuck up there one night and put up a 20m EndFedz about 5 feet off the roof. In just a few days I worked (from So. Cal.) OR, WA, MD, NM, ID, IL, SD, and one fine night (drumroll) Croatia. This antenna so outperforms what it should be doing it's ridiculous. Next is 40m....

Many tnx to Par Electronics.

Very good and simple Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Recently hung the 20 and 40 meter versions as top fed slopers from my 35ft. tower. Dale from PAR suggested a stand-off of a couple feet from the tower. Both are tied into my ground system (not necessary). Good signal reports with 100 watts from all the stations I've worked so far.
Great antenna for those of us with limited space.

Great investment Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I live in an antenna restricted area and purchased a 40M and 20M end-fed dipoles from Par electronics. I installed them from a second story balcony to a tree in the yard and a tree in the forest. Both are only 24 feet off the ground. I only run 100W out of a Pro III and have had no troubles. Installation was a snap and the lines are essentially invisible. After I installed them I invited the neighborhood association chair person for architectural approval and she never even noticed the antennas!

I had a few questions on installation and they were quickly answered by e- mail. Just super customer service!

The only area that I've been unable to reach is Africa. But I will keep trying. I have had good luck with DX at distances, like New Zealand's south island, Europe, Russia, and South America.

I ordered two more end-fed antennas for different bands but have not installed them yet.

They existing lines have been iced up, exposed to high winds, and the occasional bird resting on them and they have never failed.

Bottom line is that these were great investments!

Truly Useful Time Owned: more than 12 months.
The end feed solves all kinds of awkward installation circumstances; there is almost total freedom with regard to antenna orientation. It's great not having feed lines all over the yard, and the AWG 18 radiators are very stealthy. I have the EF-30 and EF-17 and they work very well for me as a sloper and a vertical respectively, supported by a guyed fiberglass Max Gain 32' mast. I'm going to add an EF-40 mounted as an inverted vee for pseudo NVIS service. With halyards on the mast, it takes just a few minutes to change bands, and just about zero space to store antennas not in use. These EndFedz can be a truly useful system of full-size antennas. My experience with the products and the service agrees with the other reviews. I recommend them without reservation.

No regrets Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Works great, excellent quality, throw it up in a tree and work the world. Only criticism is that it is pricey considering what it is. But I can overlook that point because it just plain works with no tears.

A Seriously Good Antenna Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I purchased a 40M EndFedz end fed half wave dipole (monoband with a 200W rating) for $70 and am amazed how well it performs. With a slingshot I tossed a line over two trees and pulled the antenna up into an inverted-L, leaving about 65% of the wire vertical and 35% horizontal. The operation took me only 30 minutes, including checking the SWR and putting coax seal on the feed point. My 2:1 SWR curve is more than 350 KHZ wide, better than the 225 KHZ advertised by EndFedz, and the antenna resonated at 7125 KHZ as delivered.

All I can say about my EF40 is WOW! With only 100W, I can work most stations I hear, albeit sometimes after a couple of calls, but I almost always manage to get through. When I put up this antenna, it was two hours before sunset. My first four contacts (from coastal Massachusetts) were with Hungary, Italy, Bulgaria and the United Arab Emirates, all with 57 to 59 reports. A few foreign broadcast stations were coming in 60db over 9, a rare occurrence for my stingy S meter on 40M!

I really like the inverted-L configuration because it gives me a great combination of low angle vertical and higher angle horizontal radiation. It’s omnidirectional and a strong performer for daytime short haul as well as for nighttime DX. Plus, no counterpoise wires are needed! But I would definitely recommend attaching a pull down line to the feed point in case the wire gets snagged in the trees. My very subjective impression is that, after trying it 100% vertical and 100% horizontal, my EndFedz gets out best as an Inverted-L with 50 to 70% of the wire hung vertically. Soon I will try it as a sloper. The important thing to remember is to get the middle portion of the wire as high as possible – that’s where maximum radiation occurs.

$70 may be a lot to pay but I figure that part of the price includes all the valuable time it saved me when putting up this antenna. It is well made with tough, flexible copper clad steel insulated wire that is close to invisible and with an ingenious end insulator that makes it very easy to adjust the wire length. This is a seriously good antenna for base station as well as portable use. No, you’ll never win Sweepstakes with it. But my inverted-L seems almost as good as my dipole for high angle close-in contacts but significantly better for DX. I’m convinced there are several reasons for this: my feed point is 20’ above the ground and it’s acting like an elevated vertical; the horizontal section is about 65’ AGL (a half wavelength); and I also happen to enjoy good soil conductivity. One thing is for sure – I’m definitely leaving this antenna up and spending more time on 40!

I would encourage EndFedz to produce 75/80M models as well as some for higher power, at least for small linears. A 160M model would be awesome. Next I’m planning on purchasing one for 20M for when I go portable. The EndFedz is a wonderfully simple and very effective antenna, and I would urge anyone to give it serious consideration. For portable operation it should be hard to beat. Toss one end of it out a window or over a tree limb and start transmitting! My 40M model fits easily into a 6-inch ziplock bag - good things do indeed come in small packages! LNR Precision now makes the Parr EndFedz and Larry, the owner, provides great support and a high quality product.

Can't believe it works so well. Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I'm a bit amazed over this antenna, the 20m version. Twice now I've simply thrown the end up into a tree about 12 feet with the feed end sloping down to my chair, where I fed it with my KX1 at about 1.5 watts then made long distance QSO after QSO. I don't know if its any better than a long wire and counterpoise attached to the KX1/ATU, but it sure is easy to use and effective.

Easiest field antenna, ever. Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I have 2 End-Fed antennas. The 20 meter and the 40 meter models. They work very well. They were easy to trim to length with an antenna analyzer. Now, all I do is throw a line over a tree, hoist them up, and they are ready to go. Very compact and light. I live in Northern california and have made contacts in Japan, the East Coast, and even the Falkland Islands.

I highly recommend them

Top Product Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Just received my 17 mtr version yesterday. Could not be happier. Drove to my favorite portable spot and set up on a Jackite pole. FT 817 with a HyPower
45 watt amp. Finland answered on first call and Rio on the second. 5-7 and 5-9 reports. Clearly heard a
JA talking to Rio but did not call since I did not have the frequency. Have NEVER heard a JA clearly before! Simple and elegant plus the new owner's service is top notch. Going to order a 20 mtr next.
