Excellent antenna			Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
After increasing height of my tower from 40-60 feet, Made the decision to try the OB1-40 at 68 feet up. My expectations were really pretty low. Boy was I surprised. This antenna opened the 40m dx world. I’ve had dipoles, inverted vees & EFHW antennas and never got the performance of the Optibeam! I had tried to work Bill, ZS6CCY, for over two years without success. One call in the pileup & he called me out. I thought I had my new amp running at 700w, however I failed to put it in operate mode. So ends up I worked Bill with 40watts! The next evening, I heard a German station calling cq. I answered and was the first station he called out. After going through the name, location & signal report, we got to the equipment. I was bragging about my new Optibeam OB1-40 & telling how well lt worked and all the new countries I had picked up on 40m. This is about 7 minutes into a 15 minute qso. The German station came back and said, yes that is one of our best sellers here at Optibeam. The light then went on … I was working Tom, DF2BO, the owner of Optibeam! I was totally dumbfounded. We talked & he gave me some more info to help out on centering the freq of the antenna. Two days later, I sent him an email with some questions on the antenna. That night I heard him again & got through on the first call. He went through my email & responded on the air as well as replied via email with a lengthy response to the email I sent him that day. That is great customer support! Since putting the antenna up a week ago, I have added fifteen new countries on the 40m band. This antenna impressed me so much, that I have ordered and received a new OB1-4030P from DXE. Can’t wait to get it up in the air! Also my OB16-5 is sitting on sawhorses waiting for a crane & boom truck to put it on the tower. This antenna is the best made! You can’t go wrong with it or the premier customer support you get from Delta-Fox-Two-Blue-Ocean!

a super antenna			Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I have my OB1-40 six months now and the difference between my inverted vee and the OB1-40 is like night and day,I hear and contact stations I would never hear on the wire antenna,the dx is super.the antenna is of excellent quality and workmanship,a pleasure to assemble and mount on my tower,I have the OB1-40 mounted above my OB9-5, my other super antenna and the reason I did not hesitate to purchase the OB1-40,I am very happy with this antenna.from start to finish of my purchase and beyond to assembly and mounting the antenna on my tower communication with Tom has been excellent,second to none,all queries and questions answered in no time,super support and advice.my experience of OptiBeam antennas and the purchase with Tom a gentleman has been super.Five star antennas,Five star service,from a Five star company. I had an Ultrabeam before with a faulted element for 40 meters. The change to the OB1-40 has brought 10 dbs. Not only for Europe, also DX is like day and night. Go for it...

This antenna is performing very good and is very durable.This antenna can be a pile-up killer and what you hear can be worked in my experience. The OB1-40 has a very good bandwidth ! Whole 40 meters is easy covered. The Hi-Q coils are idiot proof ;-) When you want to try dx on 40 then this antenna is a very good start. When i compare with the inverted V then the OB1-40 performs better , with a max of +10 db differents in fever of the OB1-40. All the antenna's i use are Optibeam ( OB5-6 , OB9-5 and OB1-40 )because they're well constructed because it's German engineering ! Wow! what a difference, I have installed the OB1-40 above my OB9-5, I've previously had a Cushcraft A4s with the 40m add on kit and an inverted V dipole at 24m. I'm now hearing signals that I've never heard before, and they are hearing me! Like all Optibeam products, the build quality is superb,and those big open air coils are a work of art. SWR was better than the figures quoted. As usual Tom was a pleasure to deal with, his advise on spacing between the antenna's was on the money, no coupling and both perform flawlessly. The antenna arrived one week after ordering, not bad from Germany to Australia. Thank you Tom for a fantastic antenna, & your great service. Don VK3HDX

OB1-40, excellent 40M rotary dipole ever made. WHY? 1. With High Q Air Coils, amazing swr read out with different power output. 2. Power handling, WOW!! My QRO and COMMANDER speaks on it. 3. Performance in Transmit and Receive, Great! 4. Tom DF2BO, very reachable person and with excellent support. Try it!!! Highly recommended antenna and Im adding one OptiBeam antenna soon. 73 MABUHAY! Fantastic!			Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have recently installed an OB1-40 above my OB9-5 at a height of 25meters and for a single element antenna the performance is amazing! Most of the signals I pull in and put out are 2-3 S-points higher than I have with my 25meter long folded dipole. Busting through pile-ups is seroiusly good fun and this antenna performs as good or better than my Cushcraft A4S with 40meter add-on. I have now scrapped the A4S! The OB1-40 is very well made and can be assembled in under an hour. It stays rigid in high winds and is surprisingly light for its size. SWR is actually better than in the specs and no need spend money a tuner. This antenna is in a league of its own and if you want fantastic performance on 40meters with a single element antenna, look no further....this is the one!

I'm using two antennas, the OB1-40 on top and OB11-5 beneath it, both at aprox. 21 meters above the ground. The OB1-40 is better than a normaly rotary dipole. Easy to install with the manual. The support of the Optibeam company is excellent. Your next antenna should be a Optibeam antenna :) 73, Uwe

SUPER Antennas for Great DXers!			Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Dear Friends, I don't want to change your idea about antennas. But as already write on my other Review on OPTIBEAM 9-5. I like very much WORKING 40 Meters Band, so I couldn't setup a antena system without 7 MHZ. My previous antenna was a Yagi with 40 Meters. I've study very careffuly all Technical information about this OPTIBEAM 1-40 and shown that is the correct choice. 1) Good Technical Features exactly as shown on Web-Site 2) Very Good Quality (German Technonology) 3) Good price 4) Easy to setup 5) Very good Technical Support from OPTIBEAM Factory. (Documentation is good) but if you have any question they answer all your questions. So My decision was made, put two (2) antennas on the same mast. Separating about 2,50 Mts from OPTIBEAM 1-40 than OPTIBEAM 9-5 this is my antenna system and it's REALLY GREAT! Exactly What I've expected ? First QSO was A52AM on First Call on meadle of the Pile-UP. Work easy DX stations. SUPER RECEPTION, VERY GOOD LISTENING !I Work with a Very Good performance NORTH AMERICA, CENTRAL and SOUTH AMERICA and Oceania. If you decide to have a 40 Meters antenna on your Antenna System this is a good Choice if want to have on the same mast , same tower. I'm QRV! for any question! Enjoy DX! 73s from Marq/CT1BWW

compact pileup killer			Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have this dipole mounted together with OB1-30 on a boom section about 2m on top of a OB-11-5 about 20m over ground. It is really a amazing, how easy it is to assable and to use. Worked 3 new DXCC (#265) in the first week: This one is a pileup killer!
