Review Summary For : WIMO Big Wheels for 6m, 2m, 70cm
Reviews: 4MSRP: 63(70)-65(2)-100(6)€
Description:
The antenna is made of anti-corrosion aluminum material and all nuts and bolts are made of stainless steel. The gain is approx. 3dBd and the antennas utilize an N-connector. It's possible to stack two Big Wheels horizontally and thus increase the gain to approx. 5 dBD onmidirectionally!
Product is in production

Not for me Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I bought the big wheel based on the prospect of not needing a rotator, well based on how poor VHF conditions have been with the lack of activity I have heard virtually nothing.

Yes it did drag an "OK" station out of the noise but that was very much the exception.

Build quality was ok apart from a cross threaded bolt on the mounting bracket, not worth the effort of returning to Germany.

IMHO its is expensive for what is essentially a folded dipole. Perhaps my expectations were too high, got plenty of questions from the neighbours though!

2m big wheel Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have used my 2m big wheel in 2 recent contests erected on a temporary mast with good results with just 5W. It works as advertised and I like not having to turn the antenna. When first erected the SWR was slightly high but slightly altering the position of the stub and bending the elements brought this down. Overall, it works well. If I was fitter I would have made my own. The Wimo version is not cheap, but is well made. Being in the EU the VAT was already included and there was no duty to pay. It is being erected in its final position next weekend.

Works fine! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I mounted the 2m Big Wheel four weeks ago and made some fine Tropo-DX with it, always with good reports.

Very easy to assemble and the SWR is below 1:1,2 between 144-145 and below 1:1,5 between 145-146 without any alignment.

This 2m big wheel is a very fine addition to the yagi but also a great possibility for beginners on 2m SSB to start without disappointment.

So for what it is, a antenna with round radiation and horizontal polarisation with a small gain of probably 2-3 dBD I can give a rating of five.

6m Big Wheel Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Easy to assemble. Not so easy to handle on the roof. But it works really fine. Bandwidth is extremely small but sufficient for ham bands. SWR below 1.5, center 1.2.
