One of the best Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Not too many hams, at least in the states, have heard of the "Kathrein" make of antenna. It's too bad because these are in the same vane as other "professional" grade "DC grounded, no radial" antennas such as Decibel, Celwave, Motorola, etc. The 75 16 2 21 (I know, I know, its a long confusing model number) is a great example of German enginering and build. This is not the common cheap ham grade Japanese or Korean made crap that so many hams pay way to much for. This is a high performance mono band antenna....no frills.

This antenna is a fibergalss radome that has a small, thin diameter (1/2") that weighs in at 7 dBi or about 5 dBd of gain. It stands at a height of about 7 feet. This is a stacked colinear phased array with the radiator material being brass. It has a max watt rating of 50 watts. The antenna uses a N type connector and comes in a couple different color variations I believe. I painted mine an off gray/light-blue to mix with the sky. Mine goes to a 1.2:1 SWR at around 441.000 and maxs' out at 1.8:1 at 449.900.

One real interesting feature of this antenna is it can be mounted either one of two ways. One being the "traditional" mount with a U-bolt off to the side of the mast. The other way is to bring the U-bolt back in from the inside and mount on top of a mast. This way you can run cable right up the inside of the mast tube if you wanted.

This antenna is awesome, and performs better than any of the other "ham" junk out there. If you are consideing a great, robust antenna that is not going to let you down, this is the one to get. Remember, this is not a Comet, Diamond, Cushcraft or other junk that is way over priced. This is the real deal along with other great professional radomes.

You can occasionaly find these jewels on E-bay in like new condition starting at about $40. Although certainly worth the money, I would not pay more than $75. Then again, I would pay $150 for this one any day of the week over a junky Diamond at $250!!! -Now that is dumb!

Stop fighting with the junk out there and step up to a commercial grade antenna with an unsurpassed reputaion and flawless build -get a Kathrein!!
